Position Summary A Material Handler is responsible for the safe and efficient handling of materials used in the production of medical devices. This includes receiving, storing, and distributing materials, as well as monitoring inventory levels and ensuring that materials are properly labeled and identified. Duties may include loading/unloading trucks The ideal candidate for this position should have experience working in a warehouse or manufacturing environment, as well as knowledge of safety protocols and procedures related to the handling of hazardous materials. - Maintains inventory by identifying, labeling and placing materials and supplies in stock, recording location of inventory.
- Locates materials and supplies by pulling and verifying materials and supplies listed on pick lists.
- Returns materials and supplies to inventory by verifying that it is no longer in use.
- Weighs and/or counts material before returning it to inventory.
- Communicate with production supervisors and leads to ensure operators have adequate material to run their jobs.
- Maintains work-in-process inventory by delivering and opening supplies.
- Documents the consumption and return of materials and supplies via the HPMS ERP system.
- Operates forklift to move material as needed.
- Maintains a safe and clean work environment.
- Contributes to team effort by assisting in shipping and receiving when available.
- Regularly lift and/or move objects up to 10 pounds and frequently lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds.
- Assist shipping and receiving clerk in daily cycle counts.
- Occasional evening and/or weekend work may be required.
- Obey all safety rules, use caution in work activities, and continuously practice safe behaviors.
- Immediately report unsafe conditions/behaviors and work-related injuries to site supervision.
QualificationsRequired
- High School diploma or GED, or equivalent years of experience.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to understand specific directions and follow guidelines that are common throughout the department.
- Understands and is fluent in using barcode workflows through handheld barcode scanners.
- Ability to use a computer, desktop or handheld, and follow prompts and workflows.
- Maintain a constant focus on quality and accuracy.
- Ability to carry out instructions or solve problems.
- Work with a high level of initiative while under moderate supervision.
- Must be able to convert units of measure, as required.
