Job Description:
SUMMARY The primary responsibility of the Material Handler is to handle all inbound and outbound deliveries of all cheeses and supplies in the warehouse. This position works Friday through Sunday, 6pm to 6am. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.Other duties may be assigned.
  • Receives raw material, unloads trailers, and records transactions using a data collection device and documentation processes.
  • Stages customer orders using a data collection device utilizing FIFO principles.
  • Follows all regulatory rules, including but not limited to sealing trucks, recording temperature readings of finished goods, and performing and recording trailer inspections.
  • Provides production materials in correct quantities and specifications, based on reading the production schedule and using a data collection scanner to production lines.
  • Completes pallet identification labels and moves finished products to the warehouse and verifies the proper amount of scanned finished goods.
  • Operates pallet stacker for vertical stacking of product in coolers.
  • Operates battery charging station and maintains charge in pallet trucks.
  • Inspects all incoming and outbound loads to ensure product quality standards are met.
  • Transports chemical barrels and containers.
  • Uses cleaning materials for sanitation processes.
  • Communicates and collaborates with all other warehouse and production team members.
  • Operates and troubleshoots issues with the palletizing robot and stretch wrappers.
  • Complies with all company Safety, HACCP, and GMP policies
  • Immediately report any food safety or quality issues to management or other individuals authorized to initiate action

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE High school diploma or equivalency is preferred (GED). Food manufacturing experience or experience working in a converting facility is desirable. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Certified to operate forklifts (will train and certify internally). Individuals must be certified for walking, riding, and stacking (4 high) forklifts. PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that a Team Member must meet to perform the essential functions of this job successfully. The Team Member frequently lifts up to 50 pounds.Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.When assisting in other converting areas, which may occur occasionally, the Team Member must be able to frequently lift and/or move blocks or wheels weighing 20 to 50 pounds and boxes of dried cheese weighing up to 50 pounds. Blocks or wheels of cheese are carried from pallets to a conveyor or staging area about 30 high.The Team Member may frequently lift and/or move boxes of product from 20 to 50 pounds and stack onto pallets up to 60 above the floor and frequently place/carry bags of cheese weighing 5 to 25 pounds from a turntable to cheese boxes, both 30 above the floor.Pallets weighing up to 60 pounds must be stacked up to 5 feet high. WORK ENVIRONMENT The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those a Team Member encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member will often be exposed to extreme, non-weather related cold in refrigerated temperatures ranging from 35-50 degrees as well as occasional exposure to wet and/or humid conditions on a typical work day. Also, the Team Member will work around safeguarded machinery with rotating, mechanical parts and conveyor belts and be expected to lift up to 40lbs. The Team Member will also occasionally be exposed to caustic and/or toxic chemicals used for sanitation and cleaning. The noise level is usually quiet. TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member may be required to work with forklifts, hand knives, hand tools, calculator, data collection device and computer/printer. PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT REQUIRED Steel toe safety boots, cotton gloves for warmth, jacket for warmth and hearing protection when needed and other PPE as required. plant12
