Material Handling SpecialistThis is a physically demanding position. The focus of this assignment is the packaging and material handling of completed plastic film for the food industry. (Example: Oreo, Lays Potato Chips pkg., etc.) This position is apart of our Derprosa business line, you will learn how to use a crane or manipulator to lift large rolls of films off the production line and onto a pallet. Following operating instructions, you will be required to weigh, band, skid-wrap and label each product. Using a forklift, you will then transport packaged pallets from production area to the shipping area. Position Requirements:
- Must have reliable transportation
- Must be able to work in a moderately heavy manufacturing environment
- Must be able to withstand continuous periods of moving, walking, bending, stooping, keeling, twisting motion, climbing and descending stairs and ladders to perform most tasks
- Must be able to work Monday - Friday (8 Hour Shift)
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs. without assistance
- Must be able to follow mandatory safety procedures
- Must participate in training program (computer, classroom, hands-on, safety training)
- Must be mentally sharp and quick to respond
- Must have a high school diploma, or equivalent
- Must be able to perform basic math functions
- Must understand basic computer skills
- Must clean up as you go
- Must be able to learn how to operate a fork truck and/or pallet jack
- Must complete and pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen.
- Performs general housekeeping, maintenance and organization of the dock and inventory areas; includes hands-on cleaning and maintenance along with organization and interpersonal skills to coordinate with other departments.
- Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
