GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB: The Material handler position assumes responsibilities for raw material storage, order pulling, offloads, and safe handling of chemicals as directed by the Plant Managers or Supervisors. The job requires a high level of comfort with electronic motorized equipment. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Maintain a safe working environment, assuring compliance with all plant safety policies and acting as a positive influence on the warehouse floor for other personnel
  • Capable of lifting at least sixty-five pounds and required to stand/walk 90% of the workday.
  • Meet Best In Class expectations for housekeeping.
  • Actively participate in CI (Continuous Improvement) Team activities.
  • Have in depth understanding of filling machines and filling procedure
  • Rotate through various responsibilities in Manufacturing. Hours will shift during the rotation schedule as needed
  • Move waste and pallets from receptacles to dumpsters.
  • Operate within standard operating procedures (SOPs) and Job Safety Procedures.
  • Operate forklift when required within required training and guidelines
  • Perform preventive maintenance (PMs) check on forklift and advise if service needed.
  • Communicate with operators from other shifts.
  • Perform back-up for other manufacturing team members.
  • Provide on-the-job training to new employees.
  • Maintain appropriate licenses and certifications (forklift)
  • Follow all Phoenix Manufacturing outlined expected standards and plant rules
  • Other duties as assigned (replenishing bins, reset floor plan, housekeeping of bathrooms/break room, etc.)
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This job does not have supervisory responsibilities. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Forklift certification - trained on the job ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Employees are expected to wear all required PPE on the floor (e.g., steel toe boots and safety glasses), actively participate in company safety programs, and maintain a safe working environment.
