The Williams College of Business at Xavier University invites applications for a non-tenure track Teaching Professorship position in the Department of Accountancy beginning fall 2024. The Teaching Professor position is renewable on a yearly basis, with the potential after six years for promotion to Senior Teaching Professor with a rolling two-year renewable contract. The candidate must be committed to provide quality teaching and to either (a) maintain an active professional presence or (b) conduct scholarly research in compliance with AACSB standards for faculty. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
Duties: Faculty members at Xavier are expected to teach in both undergraduate and master's programs (MBA and/or MS in Accountancy) in live and on-line formats. The successful candidate will be able to teach both introductory courses – financial and managerial accounting. Teaching an additional course in the major is a plus (e.g., Accounting Information Systems, Intermediate / Advanced Financial, Audit, Tax, etc.). In addition to teaching, the successful candidate will also serve as a faculty advisor for Accounting Society, which provides students with opportunities for professional development and leadership. Other duties include service and participation in the life of the Department and University consistent with the mission of Jesuit higher education, and professional development activities on and off campus. Teaching load is four courses per semester.
Required Qualifications: Applicants for this non-tenure track faculty position must have at least a master's degree with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in accounting-related course work. Strong candidates will have compelling evidence of teaching effectiveness, an active professional or scholarly agenda, current professional certification (CPA or similar), and relevant professional work experience. All areas of teaching interest will be considered. The successful candidate will be able to engage diverse groups of students in learning opportunities.
