Job Description:

Job Title: Material Handling Specialist Broad Function: This position is responsible for the receiving, shipping, and handling of all materials. It includes the recording, tracking, and control of all materials through the inventory management system. Qualification Requirements:

  • High school graduate (or equivalent).
  • At least one year of related stockroom experience, including powered industrial trucks.
  • Ability to safely lift and handle materials up to 50 lbs.
  • Knowledge of Computerized Inventory Systems with the ability to learn any new equipment introduced to carry out the functions of the department.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; able to team with other Client members in a cooperative and friendly manner.
  • Creative problem solver.
Principal Responsibilities: Receiving and Handling:
  • Manage all inbound and outbound materials, including the preparation, filing, and distribution of all appropriate documentation in an organized and efficient manner.
  • Identify materials upon receipt without packing lists supplied with shipment.
  • Determine the level of resistance to oxidation for all incoming materials and expected duration of preservation measures provided by vendors for items to be stored outside.
  • Safely offload (indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions) and transport large items without COG information or pick plan provided.
  • Understand the subcontractor flow process to effectively receive subcontracted POs to ensure proper material consumption.
  • Upon physical receipt at the dock, determine which PO lines were previously received in SAP for POC vs items to receive in SAP.
Shipping:
  • Safely tarp and load prime units on trucks for shipment.
  • Review and identify all items not flagged to ship with prime orders and communicate to determine if shipment is needed.
Handling:
  • Operate all PIT equipment and safely load/unload all materials up to 50,000 lbs inside or out in all weather conditions.
  • Evaluate completed assemblies from the core for aftermarket to determine if truly complete or if additional work and/or painting is required.
Organizing:
  • Ensure effective and efficient incoming and outgoing flow of materials.
  • Check all palletized materials upon receipt, compare to start of assembly dates, and determine if materials should be transported to and stored in offsite warehouse; perform transport to offsite warehouse.
  • Review the condition of all pallets containing material and repalletize as needed.
Inventory Management:
  • Ensure material is correctly identified and placed in its proper location designated in the automated inventory storage system and/or the storage racks.
  • Aid production-scheduling personnel by ensuring that incoming material and material accumulated from stock inventory is complete, properly issued, and delivered to the point-of-use.
  • Prepare and ship all materials, including compressor units to customers utilizing approved shipping document procedures.
Aftermarket Orders:
  • Maintain a list of all open sales orders.
  • Monitor all line items of every sales order and pick to ship when complete and due in the current month.
  • Monitor the status of every WO for each SO and pick to production when all materials are available.
Kan-ban System:
  • Coordinate and manage the material inventory levels through the Kan-ban system (~3,400 items) in all areas necessary to ensure that adequate stock levels are maintained.
Documentation and Compliance:
  • Ensure material receiving and receiver documentation reconciliation with the purchase order and/or stockroom location.
  • Accumulate all parts and components onto specified job carts, including maintaining a current shortage list” for all material on the production floor and the accumulation area.
  • Interface with other functions (i.e., Production, Service, Planning, Purchasing) to ensure timely and accurate distribution of production inventory.
  • Comply with Safety Rules, Regulations, and OSHA Requirements.
