Job Description:
Position Title: Material Handler - Data Center Location: Los Lunas, NM Employment Type: Full-Time Position Summary: The Material Handler is responsible for the efficient management, movement, and storage of telecom equipment within a data center environment. This role plays a critical part in ensuring that all materials, including cables, servers, racks, and related telecom hardware, are accurately received, inventoried, and delivered to the appropriate locations within the data center. The Material Handler will work closely with the operations and IT teams to support the seamless operation of the data center. Key Responsibilities:
  • Inventory Management:
    • Receive, inspect, and verify incoming telecom equipment and materials.
    • Maintain accurate inventory records in the inventory management system.
    • Conduct regular inventory audits to ensure accuracy and availability of critical components.
  • Material Handling:
    • Safely and efficiently move and transport telecom equipment and materials throughout the data center.
    • Operate material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and dollies.
    • Prepare equipment and materials for staging and installation, including unpacking, labeling, and organizing.
  • Logistics Coordination:
    • Coordinate the receipt, storage, and distribution of telecom equipment within the data center.
    • Assist with the preparation and packaging of outgoing shipments.
    • Ensure timely and accurate delivery of materials to various departments and project teams.
  • Safety and Compliance:
    • Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines, ensuring a safe working environment.
    • Comply with company policies, procedures, and regulations related to material handling and inventory management.
    • Report any safety hazards or equipment malfunctions to the supervisor immediately.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    • Maintain detailed records of all material transactions, including receipts, transfers, and deliveries.
    • Generate and submit inventory and logistics reports to management as required.
    • Collaborate with the IT and operations teams to address any discrepancies or issues with materials.
Qualifications:
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; relevant certifications in material handling, logistics, or supply chain management are a plus.
  • Experience: Previous experience in material handling, warehouse operations, or logistics, preferably within a data center or telecom environment.
  • Skills:
    • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
    • Ability to operate material handling equipment safely and efficiently.
    • Proficient in using inventory management software and basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office).
    • Attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and quality control.
    • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Ability to lift and move heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) frequently.
    • Prolonged periods of standing, walking, and manual handling in a warehouse or data center environment.
    • Ability to work in various conditions, including cold/hot temperatures and confined spaces.
Working Conditions:
  • The role is primarily based in a data center environment with exposure to noise, temperature variations, and confined spaces.
  • May require overtime or weekend work during peak periods or urgent project deadlines.
