Material Handler Facility: Trenton Plants General Description This is a semi-skilled, entry-level position. In some instances, the warehouse will have a shipping & receiving foreman who will act as a secondary supervisor. The expectations of this position are defined by excellent customer service, professional conduct, maintenance and care of company equipment and facilities, and acting in the best interests of the company at all times. Specific Duties • Follow all applicable environmental, health and safety rules and procedures and immediately report all dangerous situations, near-misses, and injuries. • Participate in developing and updating risk assessments and review all applicable risk assessments annually. • A material handler is responsible for the safe, accurate and orderly assembly of customer orders. Also, a forklift operator maintains the safe, orderly care of all company and customer owned material and equipment within the facility. • Safely and accurately calculate customer orders to prepare them for delivery, inter-plant transfer or customer pick-up. • Safely and accurately load material for delivery onto trucks with the guidance of the truck driver responsible for the delivery. • Safely unload, count/check, and incoming stock material from vendors neatly in the warehouse. • Safely handle and organize all material as to minimize damage. • Safely operate all equipment, i.e., Forklift, power tools, hand tools, floor cleaning machinery, etc...and maintain care to minimize damage. • Safely maintain storage areas, entry and exit points, and all high traffic avenues of all areas of the facility to be free of trash and debris to allow for unobstructed, safe passage. • Safely, professionally and courteously assist all customers as they enter the yard and facility for material pick-ups, delivery or returns, and visits. Qualifications • A strong aptitude for math is essential thus a high school diploma or equivalent is preferred but not a requirement. • A forklift safety and training certificate is also required and will be provided by Hutchinson Industries upon completion of a written test. • The ability to work well with others and as a member of a team is a must. • A large degree of lifting (moderate to heavyweight), bending, squatting and maneuvering onto and off of a forklift will be expected. • There is also an overtime requirement that will be determined by seasonal workload. • It is a general expectation that we work safe, we work smart, and we conduct ourselves professionally and courteously at all times. • This outline does not restrict or limit a Hutchinson Industries employee from safely doing whatever is asked or required of them to get the job done.
