Job Title: Material Handler/Forklift OperatorClassification:Hourly Reports To: Production SupervisorDepartment: ProductionSummary of JobA Material Handler is responsible for operating a Hi-Lo as a means of moving product in a safe and efficient manner. Material handlers must deal with the stress of managing multiple tasks at once, and prioritizing tasks based on the situation at hand. They may be asked to perform multiple roles depending on what is necessary on any given day. Their greatest skill is having the ability to understand the safety/product/quality and relate this to the team. Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Support, demonstrate and promote Pregis' core values: integrity, collaboration, customer focus and innovation.
- Ensure safe handling and movement of all products and racks. All material handling should be performed with the focus on SAFE as well as secure handling of the product in order to avoid damage.
- Monitor and communicate accurate inventory control within the main facility.
- Retrieve material from the end of production lines, as well as stack the beginning of production lines.
- Work closely with line operators to ensure that they have the product stock needed.
- Perform periodic audits of stored materials for quality compliance.
- Occasionally process inventory documentation and records.
- Maintain a current and valid Hi-Lo license. It is required that you pass the test within your first day of work.
- Adheres to the highest standards of company safety programs, guidelines, rules, and regulations including all personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
Housekeeping throughout assigned shift to ensure an orderly and safe environment.Physical and visual inspection of product is required to prevent non-conforming goods.Promptly reports all quality defects to the appropriate team members.Attends meetings and completes safety trainings as required.Performs other job-related duties as assigned. Education and Experience
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum 1 year warehouse/manufacturing experience preferred.
- 3-5 years HiLo experience
