Job Description:

BASIC FUNCTION Provides leadership and direction to Purchasing, Inventory Control, Production Planning and Control and Shipping/Receiving. Effectively builds and develops team to achieve maximum productivity, quality and timeliness in order to meet or exceed customer expectations. Contributes to SENCORP's overall success by effectively coordinating with other departments, identifying and implementing process improvements, and ensuring compliance with company/public policy. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Maintains an accurate and controlled receiving/shipping area. • Responsible for maintaining an accurate inventory count and an accurate valuation of inventory on hand. Manages daily cycle count program. • Manages Purchasing function to ensure availability of materials at the lowest cost, best quality, and on-time delivery to meet internal and external customer requirements. Directs and coordinates day-to-day activities involved with procuring goods and services, such as raw materials, commercial components, and capital equipment. Manages supplier certification program to ensure vendors meet delivery performance and quality expectations. • Directs function of Production Control including material and capacity planning, production scheduling, resource coordination and master schedule through production cycle. • Participates in the interview and selection of new employees and ensures new employees are trained in company policies and work procedures. • Manages department and employee performance. Plans work of department and assigns tasks, sets hours/schedules and overtime requirements. Appraises employees' productivity, quality of work and timeliness. Coaches employees to improved performance. • Implements disciplinary action as necessary with subordinates whose performance is substandard or who do not comply with established work rules. • Makes sure team has the necessary tools, equipment and know-how to accomplish objectives. Troubleshoots and resolves problems, which interfere with achieving production and quality goals. Manages requests for time away from work to make sure proper coverage is in place. • Serves as a liaison to other areas and/or customers on design, customer relations, and vendor issues. ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Coordinates ongoing training for team members. • Serve as buyer of components and/or services supplied by major vendors, as required. • Performs other duties as assigned by Vice President of Operations, in the event of special projects or unplanned tasks, in a timely and efficient manner. • Serves as back up to other positions to cover vacations and other absences. • Compiles reports and assessments as requested by Vice President of Operations. SPECIFIC CHARACTERISTICS, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: Demonstrates a positive team spirit and customer focus in daily activities. Must have effective negotiating skills. Exhibits zero tolerance for repeated errors and poor quality work. Shows an ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks/projects at one time. Demonstrates a can-do attitude. Ability to exercise good communication, organization and time management skills in a changing, customer-driven work environment. Must be able to fully adhere to the law, possess exemplary ethical behavior, and respect the privacy of all employees by maintaining confidentiality in all situations. This individual must strive for continuous improvement and excellence. The person must possess the ability to be resourceful, to act independently, where appropriate, and to recognize when higher intervention may be necessary. Rare travel could be necessary. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND/OR CERTIFICATION REQUIRED AND PREFERRED: Five plus (5+) years of previous materials management experience in manufacturing environment is required. Strong knowledge of Inventory Control, Warehousing, Shipping, Raw Material Purchasing and Production Planning is desired. Degree and/or CPM certification, APICS certification and/or other professional training. Prior supervisory/manager experience is a strong plus. Demonstrated proficiency in using computerized MRP manufacturing software or other scheduling systems and Microsoft Office products. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION: Manual dexterity sufficient to effectively use computer keyboard. Visual acuity to interact with computer terminal, mechanical design prints and written instructions. Communication skills to interact with others. Routine office environment in two-story office area and one-story factory environment (location of stockroom). Ability to travel on occasion.
