Amentum is seeking a Material Handler to join our team 1st shift manufacturing team in Peoria, IL!
Typical work schedule is Monday – Friday, 6:30am – 3:00pm ; hours may vary based on business demand.
Weekend hours may be scheduled to support our 24/7 operation.
The Material Handler is responsible for warehouse and storage operations at field project locations. Controls the receipt, identification, storage, movement, maintenance, consumption, utilization and disposition of all goods, including temporary construction materials, small tools, consumables, permanent plant materials, equipment, and parts for facility maintenance/operations.
The Material Handler Effectively communicates with the site management team and all customers to resolve systems/operations issues and promote efficient, positive working relationships.
Responsibilities:
Shipping, receiving, storing, delivering, and packaging of Prime Product Machines and Equipment, modular units or components, parts, and engines.
Loading and unloading small and large heavy equipment delivered to the customer's site.
Moving and loading small and large equipment for scrap purposes for the customer.
Receives material and checks against documentation for nomenclature, identification and quantity.
Receives all incoming shipments.
Counts, sorts, weighs, or measures material that is received, stored, or delivered in the inventory records and reconciles material records as needed.
Stores articles in proper location according to identifying factors.
Researches part numbers, pulls items, and fills orders and issues material, supplies, components and parts from documentation as requested
Prepares and packs goods for shipment.
Must use a personal computer to transact all material movement using the Storage System and Work Order / DUT System upon request.
May handle hazardous material such as chemicals or explosives.
Makes arrangements for and oversees unloading and handling of goods.
Reconciles the goods received against purchase orders and shipping documents.
In the absence of shipping documents, creates necessary documentation to support items received.
Counts, weighs, or measures all receipts and receiving inspections, identifies and documents discrepancies.
Ensures proper identification of received goods and their storage location.
Maintains auditable records of received and issued items, shortages, damaged or non-conformances issues, records maintenance data and warranties necessary for documenting the material control processes.
Ensures goods are properly stored, secured, protected, and maintained according to manufacturers' and Company standards as required to preserve warranties and protect against damage and loss.
Plans, layouts, arranges for, and maintains loading and unloading areas, adequately secured storage facilities, lay-down yards, and material handling equipment, appropriately sized and designed for the types and sizes of goods to be handled.
Maintains a strict schedule in order to be successful in the assignment, yet demonstrates flexibility in the day-to-day activities and scheduling for the benefit of the customer.
Facilitates and coordinates availability of goods to meet construction, maintenance, and other usage schedules.
Prepares outbound shipping documentation and instruments to transfer care, custody, and control of the goods being shipped.
Ensures proper packing, bracing, placarding and documentation for all outbound shipments.
Maintains records of on-hand inventory, performs cycle counts and otherwise verifies the accuracy of physical inventory.
Prepares and issues reports on physical inventories, including those of any loss, damage or destroyed goods.
Prepares warehouse requests; removes goods from storage for authorized consumption and utilization; bags, tags, and otherwise prepares goods for issuance; makes the goods available at the point and time of need.
Generates requisitions for warehouse operations, replacement of consumables, and other goods ordered locally on a min/max basis.
Controls issuance of equipment and goods to subcontractors.
Safely performs functions of the position including following proper safety guidelines such as job hazard analysis and lockout/tagout procedures and wearing PPE as required.
Operates various measuring, diagnostic and testing instruments to help provide energy efficiency solutions.
Operates a variety of equipment such as hand tools, laptop computers and diagnostic hardware to perform work.
Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.
High school diploma or demonstrated equivalent.
Minimum 1 year experience in material management, including operating fork trucks and large heavy equipment to move material in an industrial environment and using a computer to track material and information.
