Tru Vue Inc. Purpose and Scope: The Material Handlers main responsibility is to effectively control the tracking, storage and issuance of materials to the production lines. Also responsible for assisting in development of work instructions, assisting in special projects, and supporting other departments as needed. Safely performs all job functions and utilizes proactive safety concepts, while contributing to a continuous improvement environment. Participates in safety trainings and meetings, and encouraged to engage in other safety-related functions such as 1st responders, training presenters, safety committee, etc. Expected Outcomes/Job Functions: Responsibilities: 1. Effectively controls the tracking, storage and issuance of materials to the production lines and assisting shipping/receiving areas including, but not limited to: Proactively supports lines with materials for all aspects of production and packaging. Ensures proper inventory of production materials and finished goods to support scheduled orders in a Pull Manufacturing environment. Monitors and maintains receiving/shipping areas by timely warehousing newly received items and properly staging outgoing product. Assist in shipments and receipts as needed. Monitors and assist in packaging materials for shipment in the most effective manner. Inventories packaging materials. Monitors and maintains FIFO. Supports routine cycle counts and other inventory functions. Ensures consistent companywide materials programs are implemented and adhered to. Ensures quality and on-time delivery of products and services. Audits and monitor finished goods for proper packaging, tagging, and necessary information. 2. Utilizes MRP and established paperwork and practices to assure effective, accurate, timely reporting of product and location, and tracking of materials, including: Understands and use daily and monthly production schedules, including production time, Preventive Maintenance, product development, and other needs to assure efficient line set-up and operation, including material availability and placement. Uses electronic inventory management system to move, store, and locate materials and inventory. Documents and monitors procedures and processes to eliminate variation, and promotes sharing of knowledge. Utilizes and develops visual tools. Creates, learns, understands, and follows documented work procedures. Assists in development of work instructions, training and certifying team members, and assists in special projects. 3. Initiates and supports continuous improvement and elimination of waste and variation in processes using established improvement processes to improve yield and customer satisfaction, lower costs, and reduce the number of corrective actions, including: Generates and documents solutions and continuous improvement ideas in established manner. Shares and assists in generation and implementation of yield, process, and safety improvement ideas within Tru Vue, Inc. 4. Interacts and functions effectively in a high performance team environment. Cross trains in related functions and assists others in obtaining cross-functional capabilities, which ensures that operations can continue to meet the P2P levels even with daily fluctuations in staffing. Fosters a How can I help you? environment. Participates in shift change meetings and communicate across shifts to assure effective material handling function. 5. Education and Experience: (minimum requirements) Obtains and maintains a Tru Vue Forklift Operation License in good standing. One year of forklift experience, with a good driving record. Familiarity with electronic inventory management systems, including devices and processes. Computer data entry experience beneficial. Must be able to learn and perform electronic transactions accurately. Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma Quality systems preferred.Attributes: Able to learn, understand, and perform all production jobs. Able to learn, understand, and follow documented work procedures. Able to organize, prioritize, and plan ahead to meet production needs and minimize downtime. Able to accurately complete electronic transactions and paperwork related to inventory and production. Able to work effectively and cross train in a team environment. Demonstrated basic computer skills in a Windows based environment. Previous bar-coding experience preferred. Must be flexible, conscientious, quality-minded and detail oriented. High sensitivity to quality and on time delivery of materials. Sensitive to other cultures/backgrounds, able to work in a multi-cultural workplace.
