Purpose Under general supervision, the Material Handler receives product into parts area and packages and ships domestic spare parts orders. Essential Job Functions
- Pull parts orders according to production schedule and deliver to the assembly area.
- Construct crating and related packaging for product shipments, making such decisions based on the nature of parts to be shipped.
- Review daily shipping requirements and related schedules as necessary to insure familiarity with shipping requirements.
- May take measurements of shipments to determine required size of trucks or vans.
- Insure there is an adequate supply of packing materials and supplies maintained to meet shipping department needs.
- Conduct visual inspection of bills of lading and shipping contents for accuracy and completeness.
- Work closely with other parts employees in coordinating daily pick-ups of completed company products.
- Load and unload trucks and containers of incoming goods and process the appropriate paperwork into the computer.
- Disburse all incoming goods to the appropriate departments and handle weldments for inspection and rejection returns.
- Stock parts in warehouse and create locations for new stock items.
- Notify production leads of incoming parts, and fill back orders to the production floor.
- May perform reasonably similar or related duties as instructed.
Requirements: Physical Demands:
- Perform work outdoors in all weather 15% of the time
- Perform work in the plant facility 85% of the time
Education/Skills/Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Three years previous warehouse/distribution experience
- Certified forklift operator, preferred
- Familiarity with computers to look up shipping instructions, customer order information and other tasks as needed
- Excellent problem solving and trouble shooting skills
- Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills
