Job Title: Material HandlerLocation: Richmond, VAType: 3-Month Contract, Potential for Permanent PlacementHourly Wage: $18.00Shift: 1st ShiftBenefits: Comprehensive Insurance Coverage (Medical, Dental, Vision, etc.)Job Summary: Under direct supervision, the Material Handler is responsible for receiving, transferring, and storing parts and materials for manufacturing operations. Duties include loading, unloading, and moving materials within the plant or work site using forklifts and other equipment. This role involves working in a noisy manufacturing environment.Primary Responsibilities:Fulfill requisitions and work orders by moving materials to fabrication and assembly areas.Assemble orders and prepare them for shipment or storage.Read production schedules and customer orders to identify items for distribution.Inspect product loads for accuracy and ensure timely delivery.Stack and bundle materials for movement.Load and unload materials using various equipment.Move materials between production and storage areas.Sort and organize materials according to location.Record transactions and maintain accurate inventory records.Maintain cleanliness and organization in the work area.Adhere to safety protocols and use personal protective equipment.Respond to low inventory alerts and perform additional duties as needed.Skills and Qualifications:Safe operation of forklifts and other lifting equipment.Basic computer skills, including data entry.Experience with RF scanners and JD Edwards software is advantageous.Proficient in basic math.Effective communication skills.High school diploma or equivalent.Minimum one year of shipping/receiving and material handling experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting.Ability to lift to 50 pounds unassisted.Working Conditions:Extended periods of standing and walking on concrete surfaces.Manual handling and manipulation of materials.Ability to discern colors.Pre-Employment Requirements:Must pass a criminal background check (7-year felony + sex offender)Must pass a pre-employment drug test (10 panels for recreational drugs and opiates)Applicants for employment must be U.S. Citizens or national, U.S. permanent residents (i.e., current Green Card holders), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.#J-18808-Ljbffr
