The Material Handler position will be responsible for all aspects of materials such as receiving material, verifying accuracy and allocating the material to operators on a per schedule and per request basis. This person will also be trained and required to support our parts washing department, chip spinning, and packing department on an as-needed basis. We are looking for 3 Material Handlers temp to permanent hire. Come join our team that is growing at Houston Fasteners. Essential Job Functions:
- Performs all tasks in a safe and responsible manner.
- Receive and put away raw material
- Issue bar stock to shop floor
- Run and maintain parts washer
- Spin chips as needed
- Perform daily maintenance on fork trucks
- Housekeeping in the plant (picking up trash, sweeping, cleaning, straightening)
- Assist with inventory count at warehouse
- Other duties as required
Skills & Abilities:
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented, manufacturing environment.
- Effective communication and understanding of job instructions both verbally and written.
Education & Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Minimum of two (2) years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Preferred experience with nuts, bolts and fasteners
- Must have experience with Reach Truck
- Basic reading, writing and arithmetic skills.
- Ability to read, write and interpret blueprints and schematics
- Manual dexterity required for operating machinery and computers
- Clean, valid drivers' license
- Forklift operating experience
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Ability to work flexible hours and over time when required to meet customer demand.
Physical Requirements:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly working with mechanical equipment, tools, and parts.
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment such as safety glasses or hearing protection if appropriate for the area.
- Ability to lift, pull, or push equipment requiring up to 25-50 lbs. of force.
