Material Handler Desired Traits: Drives Results, Austere, Integrity, Quality DecisionsWhat is a Material Handler?The material handler works in the warehouse coordinating and expediting the flow of work and materials within or between departments according to production schedule. This position also prepares items for shipment and may receive incoming merchandise or material for the preparation of shipment. The material handler will load and unload delivery trucks, pull materials from shelves, and move items from warehouse to production. They will ensure production areas are fully stocked and have the materials they need to meet production schedules and fulfill orders to move quickly.In this role, you will:
- Resolve any material needs, solving material problems and inventory control issues as they arise
- Follow inspection procedures
- Organize and clean receiving area
- Adhere to procedures required for stores/materials documents and shipping and receiving documents
- Communicate with various departments to ensure the proper flow of work and materials
- Load and unload shelves using forklifts and other moving equipment
- Receive in all new product, write part number on the equipment and put up
- Perform other duties as assigned
Required and Preferred Experience:
- Operating a forklift, pallet jack, and Sky Track - 1 year experience required
- Lifting and moving parts and equipment
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
- Regularly required to stand, walk, talk or hear, use hands to manipulate with fingers, handle or feel, reach with hand and arms, Work near moving mechanical parts and in outdoor weather conditions
- Occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, work in high, precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, vibrations
- Lift, push or pull up to 50 lbs., team lift, use a cart, or forklift when necessary
- Ability to see at a close distance (clear vision at 20 inches or less), see at long distances (clear vision at 20 feet or more), identify and distinguish colors, observe an area that can be seen up and down or left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point, judge distances and spatial relationships, three-dimensional vision, adjust focus (adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus)
- Work environment consists of very loud noises
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent
