Position: Material Handler
Reports to: Shift Supervisor
Shift: 2nd shift
Base Pay Rate: $20.44 / Hour
2nd Shift Differential $0.75 / Hour 3rd Shift Differential $1.50 / Hour
Summary:
These roles perform material handling duties of industrial equipment in a Wood Reel manufacturing plant. Material Handlers are responsible for working within a team to Unload, and Load lumber and other raw materials to support the running manufacturing equipment. Tasks within these roles can include but are not limited to unloading trucks, transporting raw material to processing equipment, staging cut material, loading manufacturing lines, transporting WIP, staging finished goods, and loading finished product. These roles will have responsibility to perform to quality and safety standards while meeting production goals. Forklift operating is done both outside and inside, on concrete or gravel surfaces. Environment:
Plant conditions are as follows: Non-temperature controlled, open warehouse which leads to hot temperatures during the summer and cold temperatures during the winter, saw dust, and heavy noise pollution. Material handlers will operate lifts both inside and outside regardless of weather conditions. We provide all necessary PPE and Safety items to ensure your employment here is as comfortable as possible.
Standard Qualifications:
Forklift experience required
Maintaining a safe, clean, and organized work area.
Performing all duties as designated by supervisor/manager.
Performing all duties in support of Sonoco's quality and safety policies.
Helping other departments as needed.
Ability to think on your feet and troubleshoot problems and situations.
Ability to read and understand manufacturing instructions.
Ability to effectively work with a team in a fast-paced environment is crucial to success.
Being reliable, committed, and quality focused is a must.
