Position Description:Ryerson has an opportunity for a Material Handler position. As a Material Handler you are responsible for conducting the workflow of the warehouse floor. This position is 2nd shift. The hours for this position are Monday to Friday from 3:00 pm to 11:00 pm. Roles and Responsibilities: * Operate a forklift- this can require the employee to climb on and off of a forklift multiple times during the shift * Operate a strapping machine- a handheld piece of equipment used to secure product to a skid or pallet * Operate an overhead crane- all our cranes are operated by the use of a remote control * Material handling- the filling of orders requires an employee to manually move material onto a skid/pallet or create a bundle for shipment to customer * Computer and data entry * Working in a safe manner as outlined during training and use prescribed safety equipment including PPE * All other duties as assigned or duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with or without notice
Position Requirements:* Successfully pass a skills-based assessment evaluating reading, math, inspection & measurement, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills. * Some experience working in a warehouse setting * Forklift, overhead crane, and good computer skills are a plus * SAP experience preferred but not necessary * Must be able to accurately use standard measuring tools (tape measure, micrometer, and caliper) as well as pneumatic hand tools * Able to lift up to 50 lb successful candidates will be enrolled in a registered apprenticeship program as part of their onboarding and new hire training.
