Job Description:

SUMMARY

Receives, stores, and distributes material, tools, equipment, and products. Operates machinery and heavy equipment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Reads production schedule, customer order, work order, shipping order, or requisition to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed.
  • Conveys materials and items from receiving or production areas to storage or to other designated areas.
  • Sorts and places materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, type, style, color, or product code. Marks materials with identifying information.
  • Fills requisitions, work orders, or requests for materials, tools, or other stock items and distributes items to shop departments.
  • Assembles customer orders from stock and places orders on pallets or shelves, or conveys orders to packing station or shipping department.
  • Opens bales, crates, and other containers.
  • Records amounts of materials or items received or distributed.
  • Weighs or counts items for distribution within plant to ensure conformance to company standards.
  • Utilizes material handling equipment such as forklift, etc.
  • Maintains accurate inventory records and submits report to management.
  • Oversee truck loading and unloading operations to ensure all policies and procedures are followed accordingly.
  • Assist Warehouse Manager and Plant Manager with any other task requested.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   • High school or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Database software and Manufacturing software.
  • Forklift Certification
  • Commercial Driver's License (if operating vehicle is main responsibility)

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles; extreme heat and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud. Work involves varying degrees of precision and control where damage could be considerable. Attention and care required to prevent injury to others when performing work.
