*This position will be working on a second shift schedule; 2:00pm-10:00pm*Summary: Under the general direction of the Production Supervisor, Material Handler is responsible for the efficient and safe movement, storage, and organization of materials within the manufacturing facility. This role supports production operations by ensuring that materials are readily available, properly stored, and handled according to safety and quality standards. Essential Duties and Responsibilities – include the following. Other duties may be assigned. • Receive and inspect materials to ensure quality and accuracy upon delivery. • Transport materials to designated areas within the facility using forklifts or other equipment. • Organize and store materials in a safe and efficient manner to maximize space. • Maintain inventory records by updating stock levels and reporting discrepancies. • Assist in production line setup by supplying necessary materials and components. • Follow safety protocols to ensure a secure working environment for all employees. • Collaborate with team members to meet production goals and deadlines. • Perform regular equipment checks to ensure proper functioning and maintenance. • Responsible for completing cycle counts of inventory on an ongoing basis. • Responsible for inventory accuracy utilizing re-weighing procedures and SAP for identification and communication. • Responsible for keeping all Kanban and point of use materials stores neat and organized, including the storage trailers and supermarket. • Processing Incoming and outgoing materials from and to warehouses as appropriate along with completing associated paperwork and maintaining accurate labeling procedures. • Identify and quantify environmental impacts within the production and storage areas. Keeping accurate records and properly storing items for disposal, recycling, or scrapping. • Implement and maintain clear, visual identifications/numbers/labeling of all the materials stored within each bin, row, aisle or stocking location. • Responsible for maintaining a clean, organized, safe working environment and holding others accountable for the same. QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS • High School Diploma • Minimum of four (4) years of progressive responsibility in material handling, preferably in a production/ logistics environment. • Must have working knowledge of Lean and Six Sigma philosophies and have proven work experience carrying out these initiatives. CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Forklift Certified LANGUAGE SKILLS • Demonstrates excellent oral and written communication skills. • Proficiency with the English language, written and spoken. COMPUTER SKILLS: To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel. MATHEMATICAL SKILL: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms; walk and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision. Employee is required to use a forklift and maintain certification. WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and very heavy raw materials. The employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions, warm/humid interior temperatures and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. COMPENSATION: The hourly rate for this role is $23.00/hour (paid weekly) plus participation in LAPP's bonus plan.
