Position: Material Handler/Shipping and Receiving Clerk (Forklift)Location: Houston, TX, 77041Duration: 2+ Months Job Type: Contract Work Type: OnsiteJob Description: RESPONSIBILITY LEVEL:
- Responsible for receiving, shipping, and handling an assortment of stored materials.
QUALITY COMMITMENT:
- Ensure effective control and materials movement. Comply with the guidelines and regulations of Health, Safety and Environment.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES:
- Receives materials and records data as instructed using knowledge of receiving procedures.
- Receive, unload and process inbound and outbound trailers.
- Verify packing list against material received
- Visually inspect material for damaged goods. Document material damage, overages and shortages on packing list and reports all discrepancies to Supervisor/Manager.
- Process and put away received materials to their assigned warehouse locations.
- Support inventory control department by conducting routine cycle counts.
- Accurately fill orders by picking, pulling, wrapping and staging orders for customer/vendor pickup and/or shipping.
- Ships out-going materials by preparing appropriate documents using knowledge of shipping procedures.
- Operates various material handling equipment including Stand-up, Sit-Down Forklift and Pallet Jack.
- Maintain a safe and clean shipping and receiving area by observing all safety policies and procedures
- Participate in EHS suggestions program
- Participate in EHS observations program
- Implement and maintain security policy, health and environment at work.
- Participate in Safety Training program monthly.
- Intervene personally identify and correct unsafe acts and recognize safe behavior
- Identify and report potential environmental impacts and or hazards
- Analyse and prevent the consequences of all actions before any activity
- Contribute to compliance (as applicable) objectives and targets for safety, health and environment
- And other duties as assigned by your manager.
REQUIREMENTS: Certification:
- Forklift Operation Certification
Education:
- High School and prefer some college focusing on field of warehousing/logistics.
Skills:
- Cycle Counting, computer skills including MS Office programs, and must be able to load and unload large industrial equipment.
Experience:
- Need minimum 4 years warehousing and forklift experience.
Language:
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, carry and reach.
- The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, kneel and crouch.
- The job is physically demanding, and the candidate must be able to lift cartons weighing between 25lbs to 50 lbs. and prepare pallets for shipping.
- Must be able to do so without difficulty.
- Must be able to ascend and descend a ladder properly following Ladder Policy.
