The Material Handler is responsible for safely moving, organizing, and staging large stone slabs (including granite, quartz, marble, and other surfaces) throughout the warehouse or yard. This role involves operating a forklift and other material-handling equipment to ensure efficient workflow, maintain inventory accuracy, and support production teams by delivering slabs to the correct locations in a timely manner.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities- Operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment to load, unload, and transport heavy stone slabs.
- Carefully maneuver stone materials, inspecting them for damage or defects before and after movement.
- Assist in maintaining accurate inventory records, labeling slabs, and updating inventory systems as needed.
- Arrange slabs for easy access by the fabrication or production teams, ensuring a clean and well-organized work area.
- Work closely with receiving, production, and shipping teams to ensure timely delivery of materials and minimize downtime.
- Follow all safety protocols related to forklift operation, personal protective equipment (PPE), and safe handling of heavy stone slabs.
- Perform routine inspections, minor maintenance, and cleaning of forklifts and other material-handling equipment.
- Record any discrepancies in material counts, report damaged or defective slabs, and complete required documentation in a timely manner.
- Take on additional tasks to support the team and overall operations.
Qualifications- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Forklift Certification or the ability to obtain certification within a specified timeframe.
- Experience: 1-3 years in a warehouse or manufacturing environment, preferably with stone or heavy materials.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and maneuver 50+ lbs, stand or walk for extended periods, and handle exposure to varying indoor/outdoor temperatures.
