Material Handler/Forklift (Hog Utility Worker)
Operating a waste door skin shredder – The operator will take defective door skins and manually load them into an industrial Shredder. Forklift Operation is part of the position. PURPOSE: To turn the reject board from the production process into useable boiler fuel. Operators must either call or report to Water Unit area at the beginning of each day and second shift and all shifts must contact the Boiler Operator before hogging to make sure silos can handle more material. To help in daily operations in the Utilities department including the boiler, janitorial, fire systems, lagoon, grounds and, Maint., when approved. Note: May be called on to work any shift. 1\. Hog all hog material brought to the secondary hog. If there is not enough material at the Hog to feed the Boiler when needed, the operator should search for more Hog boards when asked by the Team Leader. 2\. Maintain proper housekeeping at hog. Clean roof over hog includes removing cobwebs, cleaning off beams and walls Safety & Environmental checklists a. Environmental baghouse checks for Hog area. b. Firehose checks for Hog and Water Unit area. c. Fire extinguisher for Hog and Water Unit area. d. Eyewash & Safety Shower checks for Hog and Water Unit area. e. Ladder Checks Water Unit area. f. Perform Quarterly E-Stop Verification on Hog Equipment. Must maintain current forklift and other required licenses. Licenses Required a. Forklift - required ** POTENTIAL HAZARDS 1\. The general helper may be involved in all areas of the department so they must follow all safety procedures for each area. SAFETY PRECAUTIONS 1\. Know the job assigned and how to perform it safely.
