Job Overview:
The Material Hauler is responsible for transporting and loading supplies (Gravel) to various locations within the underground coal mine. This role is critical in maintaining supplies needed to sustain the operational needs of the mine.
Key Responsibilities:
Material Hauling: Operate mine equipment to transport gravel from surface stockpiles to designated underground locations. Ensure safe and efficient loading and unloading of gravel in required areas. Coordinate with underground teams to prioritize gravel delivery based on operational needs.
Equipment Operation: Safely operate loaders and other heavy equipment. Perform daily pre-operational checks and routine maintenance on equipment as needed. Report any equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs to the supervisor immediately.
Safety and Compliance:
Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental regulations while operating equipment underground. Participate in safety meetings, training sessions, and drills as required. Ensure that all gravel hauling activities comply with mine safety standards and procedures. Assist in maintaining underground roadways by distributing gravel to improve driving conditions. Support other underground operations as needed. Communicate effectively with other operators, supervisors, and personnel to coordinate activities. Maintain accurate logs of material hauled, including quantities and delivery locations. Document any safety incidents, equipment issues, or operational challenges encountered during shifts.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 2 years of experience operating mine equipment, loaders, or similar heavy equipment, preferably in a mining or construction environment. Must know mine layout and have ability to navigate underground independently. Strong understanding of safe operating procedures for heavy equipment. Ability to navigate and operate in confined underground spaces. Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team. Attention to detail and strong focus on safety. Must be comfortable working in an underground environment with limited lighting and confined spaces. Ability to work in physically demanding conditions, including lifting heavy materials and operating heavy equipment for extended periods. Willingness to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
