Functions: Responsible for supporting Material management including Programs, Production, and Hull team with timely delivery of GFE / CFE materials including development of material requisitions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Because Eastern Shipbuilding is continually growing to meet the needs of our customers, the essential duties and responsibilities may be different than described.
- Regular attendance at work and the ability to work flexible hours, including overtime, weekends, and holidays.
- Operate in a material management system tailored to ship construction and specifications.
- Must be capable of analyzing project requirements and developing action plans to acquire specific program material.
- Compile and maintain manual and/or computerized records such as material inventory and location reports, in-process production shortages list, and material requisition status.
- Review production artifacts and confer with project managers and coordinators to determine and manage material needs and issues.
- Attending production status meetings to ensure material requests are being met in support of ship construction timelines.
- Ensure all materials required for the project are identified, classified, and validated.
- Produce and maintain Material Tracking/Status Reports for critical material including Long Lead items, construction 'lock-out' equipment, and contract-specific tools.
- Assist in researching and analyzing program material forecasting and monitoring.
- Assist in maintaining compliance with government regulations.
- Rapidly obtain, sort, filter, and analyze large volumes of data for distillation into high-level reports.
- Interpret and utilize a Bill of Materials (BOM).
- Understand technical data and build specification packages and purchase requisitions for material purchasing.
- Produce and maintain equipment preventative and corrective maintenance logs.
Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Reporting Relationship: This position will report to the Material Manager.Job Requirements
QualificationsEducation/Experience: A high school diploma or GED equivalence. 3 or more years of providing material support is required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Skills: Comprehensive experience and background in material management systems tailored to ship construction and specifications including but not limited to:
- Proficient level Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook required.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as general business periodicals, professional documents, company policies/procedures, and governmental regulations.
- Ability to rapidly obtain, sort, filter, and analyze large volumes of data.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team environment with employees at all levels.

Physical Activity/Requirements: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.This job will operate in multiple environments, including a professional office environment, and Shipboard during the production, outfit, test, and delivery phases of each Ship. Employees must be able to work in a ship production environment, including climbing, entering tanks and voids, etc., in all weather conditions.
