Westport Axle, a subsidiary of Universal Logistics Holdings Inc., is seeking candidates for a Materials Coordinator opening in their facility located in Louisville, KY. Westport Axle has established themselves as one of the leading manufacturers and supply chain service providers within the heavy-duty truck market. ** This is a C Crew position – Hours are Friday/Saturday from 6am-4:30pm and Sunday/Monday from 6pm-4:30am **

The Material Coordinator supports production needs including: inventory control and management, acting as the customer liaison, and communicating with other 3PL's and suppliers to ensure quality parts are delivered on time.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Monitor weekly releases to determine what the supplier needs to send over to Kentucky Trucking Plant
  • Restocks supplies daily and rotates inventory supporting accurate inventory levels, generating orders/requisitions as needed
  • Monitor inventory, perform cycle counts, enter production and generate various inventory reports
  • Works with purchasing, engineering, customer service in addition to manufacturing to exchange information regarding inventories, schedules and related issues
  • Manage and control inventory and the flow of parts throughout the plant with a focus on maximizing customer service and minimizing overall cost

  • Play active role on quality management team within organization to insure “zero” quality defects sent to customer
  • Follow-up as required with all teams to expedite flow of materials and documents to meet production schedule and customer expectation
  • Support the company's Quality and Environmental policies and Management systems

Experience and/or Education:

  • High School diploma and two years of material scheduling/planning experience
  • Must be self-directed, detail oriented, reliable and have strong initiative
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, summarizing analysis in reports with minimal supervision
  • Fundamental knowledge of computers and Windows software applications, Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Experience with Ford's EDL System preferred
  • Overtime may be required – must be flexible with schedule
