Phase 2 encompasses a 10-acre greenhouse facility along with a 1.5-acre production barn. This is a state-of-the-art, controlled environment greenhouse for the sustainable production of tropical indoor foliage plants of consistent and exceptional quality. The four core values that identify this company are: Caring About People, Plants, and ProcessGrowth OrientedCustomer First Can Do AttitudePOSITION OVERVIEWThe Materials Handler-Fork Truck Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently moving, loading, and unloading materials, plants, and products within the production and greenhouse facility. This role involves operating forklifts and other materials handling equipment, ensuring proper inventory control, and collaborating with production and shipping teams to maintain efficient operations.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSThis position may involve any of the following:Material Handling & Forklift OperationSafely operate forklifts and other powered industrial trucks to transport plants, materials, and products throughout the greenhouse, production, and shipping areas.Load and unload materials from vehicles and move them to designated storage areas or production lines.Inspect loads to ensure compliance with company standards, making adjustments as necessary to ensure safety.Inventory ManagementEnsure proper storage and stacking of products and materials in warehouse and greenhouse locations.Conduct routine inventory checks and assist in physical inventory counts to maintain the accuracy of stock levels.Report any discrepancies or inventory issues to the Assistant Plant Manager.Shipping & Receiving SupportAssist in loading and unloading shipments, ensuring all documentation, such as Bills of Lading (BOL) and packing slips, is accurate and complete.Work closely with the Assistant Plant Manager to organize shipments, ensure proper labeling, and meet scheduled pick-up times.Quality & Safety AssuranceAdhere to all company safety protocols, ensuring safe handling and movement of all products and materials.Perform pre-operational checks of forklifts and report any mechanical issues to the maintenance team for timely repair.Participate in safety meetings and contribute to maintaining a hazard-free work environment.Ensure all handling activities comply with quality standards to avoid product damage.Facility MaintenanceAssist in maintaining a clean and organized warehouse, production, and greenhouse environment.Ensure aisles, exits, and work areas remain free of obstructions for safety and operational efficiency.Perform essential maintenance and cleaning of materials handling equipment as needed.Collaboration & CommunicationWork in coordination with production teams to ensure timely materials delivery to production lines.Communicate with team leads and assistant plant managers regarding operational challenges or safety concerns.Assist with other necessary tasks to support production, shipping, and greenhouse activities. RequirementsREQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:Attention to detail is paramount in this position.Ability to learn and problem-solve various printing machines.Ability to accurately sort, count, and verify items received.Basic understanding of shipping, dock, and warehouse procedures.Good organizational skills.Excellent mathematical skills.Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and/or inventory software to maintain records, input data, and provide reports to management.Bilingual- Spanish/English preferred.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEHigh school diploma or equivalent required.Forklift certification preferred.Previous work experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
