About the role

We are currently seeking a dynamic individual to join our team as a Material Manager at the Elk Grove, Illinois production facility. The Materials Manager is accountable for ensuring the successful scheduling of plant production, assisting in the analysis of long-term production planning and leading the purchasing of raw material supporting production at the Elk Grove, Illinois facility. It is also responsible for planning, tactical buying, production scheduling, controlling inventory levels to prevent shortages and maximize turns, and working with plant teams to ensure that all customer due dates are met. This role directs activities and efforts required for optimum utilization of material and provides direction for prioritization of these materials required to support our production plans. This position will report directly to the Director of Operations.

In this role you will:

* Maintain optimal inventory levels to meet production and customer needs while minimizing carrying costs and addressing materials supply and quality issues with suppliers.

* Drive forward our lean conversion by implementing consignment, kanban, JIT, postponement, and other materials strategies to increase inventory turns and improve on-time delivery to the end customer.

* Lead the implementation of standard work processes by updating or developing standard operating procedures to optimize Elk Grove material management.

* Manage and coach a team of buyer planners fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.

* Provide materials support by coordinating and scheduling material purchase orders based on MRP output, forecast/historical demand and evaluation of reports.

* Track material scrap and act or make recommendations to reduce or eliminate, while also assuring the write-off of damaged and obsolete inventory.

* Ensure compliance with all relevant government regulations and standards, and Videojet policies related to material management for the manufacturing and distribution of inks and solvents.

Are you qualified?

* BS/BA/SCM degree preferred and >5 years of professional experience in buying and planning leadership functions of manufacturing organization.

* Understand the fundamentals and principles of material planning and control.

* Proven experience in material management, procurement, or supply chain management.

* Ability to lead and motivate a team.

* Excellent communication and negotiation skills.

* Excellent organization and time-management skills.

* Excellent interpersonal skills and work well with all levels of management and staff.

* Proficiency in inventory management software and ERP systems.

* Experience working in an international organization preferred.

The below range reflects the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future. An associate's position within the salary range will be based on several factors, including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, any collective bargaining agreements, and business or organizational needs.

The compensation range for this role is $110,000 - $120,000 USD per year. This job is also eligible for Bonus Pay.
