In this role, your mission and responsibilities will be to:This
materials manager manages the overall facility materials strategy and executes it operationally to ensure the plant can satisfy current production demand and projected business growth. This individual communicates all resource plans cross-functionally to gain consensus from sales, engineering, and manufacturing. This individual will enjoy working in a fast-paced environment where the ability to multi-task is essential. Specifically, you'll:
- Sales, Inventory, and Operations Planning:
- Confer with S.I. & O.P. team members to forecast demand and create supply plans that ensure the availability of materials or products
- Develop and implement new systems, best practices, inventory control, demand planning, and other optimizations to grow the business
- Drive effective Inventory Management and Control
- Review inventories to identify opportunities to improve inventory turnover, minimize waste, and enhance customer service.
- Monitor forecasts to identify changes and assess their effect on supply chain activities.
- Take ownership of inventory accuracy and its associated system and processes to ensure that accuracy, including cycle and physical counting events and processes
- Develop and implement continuous improvement strategies for material inventory or finished goods
- Supply Chain Management:
- Design and implement supply chains that support business strategies adapted to changing market conditions, new business opportunities, new product development and cost reduction strategies
- Direct activities related to procurement, material requirements planning, inventory control, shipping and receiving, and warehousing
- Define performance metrics for measurement, comparison, or evaluation of supply chain factors, such as product cost, delivery, or quality (i.e. supplier performance, supermarket stock outs, etc.)
- Document physical supply chain processes, such as position responsibilities, cycle times, workflows or system flows
- Identify, manage, and mitigate risk within the supply chain
- Address tactical supply chain issues
- Stay apprised of advances in supply chain technology and approaches, and apply within the organization to improve supply chain processes
- Material Handling & Logistics:
- Responsible for assessing & managing material handling processes
- Formulate effective staffing levels to load, unload, move, and store materials. Oversee internal warehousing, including raw material, WIP, and whole goods
- Oversee external logistics operations to maximize economy by combining shipments or consolidating warehousing and distribution per customer expectations
- Active engagement in the coordination of engineering changes, product line extensions, and new product launches to ensure orderly and timely transitions in material or production flow
- Master Scheduling:
- Develop and implement a robust Master Scheduling process for the plant
- Run the daily Production Planning meeting and ensure that the 3-day, 10-day, and 30-day planning windows are executed properly
Experience and requirements: You're a curious problem solver who can bring big ideas to life. You're creative and scrappy but can navigate a large organization with ease. You're agile and adaptable but work with precision to ensure we always deliver top-notch customer experiences. You also have:
- A bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college/university in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business Management or a related field of study
- Preferred APICS CPIM Certified
- Minimum 7 years of progressive experience with a combination of planning, logistics, production scheduling, procurement, and inventory control experience
- Minimum 3 years of direct management experience of the supply chain or materials teams in an industrial manufacturing environment
- Proficient computer skills, including MRP/ERP and Microsoft Office Suite
