Job Title: Material Management Specialist

Location: Kennedy Space Center, FL

Contract: 3-Month Contract (Full-Time, Onsite)

US Citizenship Required

Position Summary:

In this role, you'll be responsible for overseeing material management functions, including the receipt, storage, custody, and issue of materials for construction. This includes consumables, tools, spares, equipment, and permanent plant materials. You'll manage the physical inventory, data entry for the Procurement System (BPS), and support Traffic & Logistics, Receiving Inspection, and Government Property administration. This is an onsite, non-teleworking role based at the project warehouse.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct the physical count and inspection of arriving materials.
  • Review purchase order documentation for completeness and accuracy.
  • Audit BPS data regularly to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
  • Document any unsatisfactory, over, short, or damaged materials and initiate corrective actions.
  • Supervise and direct personnel to store materials per the project procurement storage plan.
  • Participate in physical inventories to maintain accurate records.
  • Oversee the protection and custody of project materials.
  • Manage surplus material disposal as directed by Field Procurement Management.
  • Prepare shipping documents and track materials shipped off-site.
  • Develop and implement jobsite instructions for material management activities.
  • Administer the tool crib inventory and maintain accurate records.
  • Support the Government Property Management Manual and ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Train and mentor assigned employees on material management tasks.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or Construction Management, plus one year of related experience, ideally in a construction, procurement, or engineering environment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent and 7 years of related experience may also be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • US Citizenship or Permanent Residency required (no sponsorship available).
  • Ability to pass pre-employment screenings, including drug test, physical (if applicable), and background check.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in construction material management.
  • Proficiency in planning, personnel guidance, and knowledge of procedures related to shipping, receipt, storage, and issue of materials.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office and BPS or other material management systems.
  • Knowledge of project policies and contract language interpretation.
  • Certification as a Certified Professional Property Specialist (CPPS) through the National Property Management Association (NPMA).
