Together under the Shyft umbrella, our teams drive new synergies that bring innovations to life on the road - for an experience that is safer, more satisfying, more rewarding all around.With 50 years and millions of miles behind us, we continue to charge forward - leading the commercial vehicle transition to electric, innovating across all our brands, and earning our position among Fortune's 100 Fastest Growing Companies.What you'll doAs the Materials Planner for Utilimaster (A Shyft Brand) based at our facility in Bristol, IN, you will be focused on utilizing established processes such as demand forecasting, inventory and supplier management, material requirement planning, and continuous improvement to ensure the optimal flow of materials from the supplier's facility through delivery.You will also be instrumental in ensuring that we have an adequate supply of materials flowing throughout our operations and in directing the activities of the production materials flow and inventory control functions.Manage assigned parts and suppliers, including all problem resolutionsDevelop suppliers to ensure improved delivery performance and inventory controlCoordinate engineering changes and build schedules with suppliers and productionMaximize customer satisfaction while minimizing surplusesExamine MRP on a daily and weekly basis to produce supplier releasesLaunch, schedule, defer, expedite, and cancel POs to maintain inventory levelsMonitor and update supplier lead times for system accuracyFacilitate suppliers' understanding of delivery expectations and materials quantity via reportsProactively confirm delivery and schedules against purchase orders and adjust when necessaryCollect shortage reports and track firm delivery schedulesObtain realistic delivery dates on shortages and follow up promptlyMitigate the risk of disrupting production by identifying parts shortages in advanceAssist with packaging projects by implementing returnable packaging programsMonitor and manage freight and logistics costsProcess material requisitions for materials, repair of parts, equipment, and special engineering projects Identify the root causes behind missed deliveriesOptimize inventory accuracy with VMI, Kanban cards, or Min/Max systemsPartner with Purchasing, Operations, Finance, and the vendor(s) to identify and implement the appropriate inventory levels, order requirements and quantities, and delivery offsetsFollow established procedures; initiate and implement improvementsQualificationsBachelor's degree in supply chain management or business, OR equivalent materials planning experience3+ years of materials, logistical, or event planning experience (manufacturing environment preferred)A track record of constructing and guiding cross-functional teamsA reputation for being versatile, flexible, and attentive to detail within constantly changing prioritiesProficiency with Microsoft 365A history of effectively handling multiple projects and delivering on timeWhy The Shyft Group?We believe that when our people thrive personally and professionally, our business thrives.
