Job Description:
Summary: The Materials Planning Team Leader oversees the daily activities of Materials Planning Specialists, ensuring efficient inventory management processes and timely procurement strategies to meet material requirement dates. Acting as a vital liaison between Materials Planning, Film Supply, Account Management, and various other departments, this role plays a critical part in resolving issues related to near and mid-term material supply, ultimately contributing to operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.Essential Functions: A) Supervises and coordinates daily activities of Materials Planning Specialists to ensure that inventory management processes are being followed, while purchasing strategies and internal material requirement dates are being met.B) Serves as liaison between Materials Planning, Film Supply, Account Management, and Scheduling, plus personnel from various other departments (e.g.,Graphics, Manufacturing, Logistics) to resolve issues related to near and mid-term material supply and ensure seamless coordination across departments.C) Ensures administrative activities, including data management and reporting, are conducted with precision, accuracy, and efficiency. D) Develops and communicates departmental and individual production goals and monitors progress to ensure desired results are obtained. E) Prepares and submits reports and records on departmental activities and results, including inventory status reports and performance metrics.F) Lead cross-functional projects and initiatives aimed at streamlining processes, reducing costs, or enhancing efficiency in material procurement and inventory management. G) Manage risks related to material availability, quality, and cost, implementing strategies to mitigate potential supply chain disruptions. H) Keeps interruptions to production plans to a minimum and ensures that actions and systems are generated to prevent recurrences.I) Leverage technology and data analytics to optimize inventory levels and procurement decisions. J) Maintains constant and effective communication with raw material suppliers to ensure compliance with customer-supplier commitments.K) Coordinates training activities to ensure department personnel are provided sufficient opportunities for attaining skills and knowledge necessary to successfully perform duties and responsibilities of job. L) Performs other related duties as required, adapting to changing priorities and contributing to the overall success of the organization.Supervise and Lead Team Members:
  • Oversee daily operations and activities of assigned team members to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Provide guidance, support, and direction to staff, promoting a collaborative and productive work environment.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to enhance individual and team performance.
  • Facilitate training and development programs to ensure team members are adequately equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge.
  • Address and resolve employee issues and conflicts in a timely and effective manner.
  • Monitor and manage employee schedules, workloads, and productivity to meet departmental goals and objectives.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, management, and other departments to ensure alignment and coordination of efforts.
  • Executes and ensures adherence to Company policies and procedures, working with Human Resources as needed to administer disciplinary actions and resolve employee problems and conflicts.
  • Skills & Requirements Education and Experience:
    • BA/BS (preferably in business, supply chain, accounting, or related field of study) or equivalent industry experience
    • Demonstrated leadership skills as might be acquired through 3 or more years of supervisory/managerial experience
    • Working knowledge of industry and printing/laminating films
    • Manufacturing support, supply, or logistics planning experience.
    Skill, Ability, and Personal Characteristic Requirements:
    • Demonstrated proficiency in utilizing Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) for efficient document creation, data analysis, and presentation development
    • Advanced skills in data analysis and manipulation using Excel functions and formulas.
    • SAP experience preferred
    • Ability to effectively interact with diverse personalities; tactful, mature, flexible
    • In-depth knowledge of supply chain management principles, procurement best practices, and relevant regulations
    • Excellent verbal/written communication skills
    • Resourceful and well organized
    • Ability to establish credibility and be decisive while recognizing and supporting the organization's policies and legal requirements
