JOB SUMMARY:

The role of the Maternal Child Health Coordinator (MCHC) focuses on the promotion of health of the child through research and development. The MCHC oversees and implements processes for improving infant and maternal health programs to ensure safe pregnancies, deliveries, and post-partum care.

The MCHC is responsible for coordinating community awareness and initiatives through research and development to improve infant development screenings, education, and medical case management.

The MCHC participates in community related activities and workgroups as it relates to the Department of Health initiatives and programs. Participates in grant preparation, annual budget, objectives, and outreach programs including Adverse Pregnancy Outcomes/High Risk Infant follow-up, Healthworks of Illinois, Lead Screening and Prevention and Immunization Clinics and Services.

The Maternal Child Health Coordinator performs a comprehensive prenatal and post -partum maternal-child Health and infant development screenings, education and medical case management through occasional one on one home visits with clients and follow -ups.

HOURS:

Monday-Friday, 08:00-4:30; with occasional night/weekend on-call rotation.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

* Plans and implements program(s) goals, objectives and strategies to ensure efficient organization and compliance with State and Federal standards, policies and guidelines.

* Provides direction, supervision and evaluation of staff.

* Implements and monitors program budget(s).

* Collaborates with community partners to advance department initiatives.

* Analyzes and evaluates programs to ensure and improve the quality of services offered.

* Serves as a resource for in-service education, participates in regional meetings and training programs.

* Coordinates education and community outreach programs with staff.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Qualifications:

* A Registered Professional Nurse licensed in Illinois with two years' experience in Community Health and/or Maternal/Child Health or

* A Registered Professional Nurse licensed in Illinois with a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN), one year experience in Community Health and/or Maternal/Child Health.

* 2-4 years Leadership, Managerial experience Required

Other requirements:

All Health Department staff are required to be up to date on the COVID vaccination series as determined by the CDC, including all primary series doses and boosters as of September 2023. As a term and condition of employment with the Department of Health,. proof of all vaccines are mandatory for employment, including flu vaccine.
