Math Zone and enjoy the best views on campus while helping your fellow CityHawks.The EXCEL Student Learning Support provides efficacious, timely, and intentional individual and group study spaces for all CCD students. The EXCEL Math Zone provides robust 1:1 and group tutoring support in Math, Physics & Statistics through in-person and remote tutoring. Math tutors works with students on a variety of math assignments providing a high-quality customer service consistent with the content and learning objectives of the regular courses. Duties and Responsibilities Math Peer Tutor duties and responsibilities include, but not limited to the following:Tutoring sessions include one-on-one and small group work with students.Effectively assist students in learning concepts related to math in a variety of applications.Develop students' critical thinking skills through modeling and guided work.Assist with daily and periodic tutoring space maintenance.Attend department meetings.Document excellence in College Algebra (MAT 1340) as well as successful completion of at least one MAT course beyond College Algebra (exception for 2nd semester students).Ability to work well as part of a team.Ability to learn and adapt to student needs.Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Outlook, D2L, and Webex.Willingness to work with people from diverse backgrounds such as individuals with a disability, racial, ethnic, socioeconomic, and LGBTQ communities.Adherence to confidential Qualifications Tutors will enjoy a casual and comfortable work environment that supports their growth and success as students.
