MBK Ohio-Dayton
Join Ohio's first-ever statewide My Brother's Keeper Network. MBK Ohio is a statewide coalition of communities and leaders dedicated to improving outcomes for boys and young men and creating opportunities for all of Ohio's youth. This VISTA project will seek to improve the effectiveness of statewide programmatic coordination in education and workforce development for low income youth and their families in the following MBK Ohio chapter communities: Canton, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Columbus, Dayton, Lima, Lincoln Heights, Mansfield, Springfield, Summit County, Toledo, and Youngstown. As a VISTA member, you will work with MBK community leaders to build the capacity for efforts to improve outcomes for marginalized youth and their families. VISTA members will facilitate partnerships with school districts, employers, and nonprofits with the goal of improving academic and economic opportunities for youth. To accomplish these goals, VISTA members will engage in community outreach, media engagement, and data collection. These activities will lead to the development of local action plans, streamlined training procedures, and more consistent reporting of youth outcomes. VISTA members will also help MBK communities establish a Youth Leadership Coalition (YLC) to provide young people the opportunity to enroll in a statewide peer network and to have a platform to discuss issues most relevant to the community that you work in. VISTA members will support the YLC by helping match youth leaders with mentors and by mobilizing communities to promote action, investment, and equity. VISTA members will track the outcomes of participants enrolled in the YLC to ensure that these efforts create tangible economic and educational opportunities for youth across Ohio.
