Job Summary: Coordinate the intake and referral process by screening and interviewing potential candidates for the Men at Work Program, Spiritual Recovery Program or RESCUE Program. Assist in coordination of residents' program by interacting with residents, staff, other social services agencies and volunteer groups for the purpose of guiding clients into self-sufficient, independent lifestyles.Job Responsibilities:
  • Schedule and coordinate all aspects of the intake and referral process as it relates to identifying appropriate candidates for interviews and client move-ins to include screening, setting appointments, interviewing applicants, notifying applicants of their status, assigning dorms and bunks to residents, assigning Case Managers to residents and notifying staff of move-ins.
  • Conduct needs assessments through one-on-one interviews and provide necessary referrals which assist in the development of Spiritual growth which leads to independent/self-sufficient living.
  • Develop and maintain strong professional network and referrals with other social services providers.
  • Provide crisis intervention and support to residents using Biblical principles to minister to their needs along with actions and attitudes consistent with a Christ-like manner.
  • Complete and account for all residents' applications, intake forms and other documentation, recording all information into the HMIS Database with accuracy and timeliness.
  • Help to facilitate the assimilation of new residents into the Men's Development Center environment.
  • Convene regularly with Manager of Resident Services II and Manager of Program Services and other staff to maintain communication and ensure the successful delivery of services to all residents of the facility.
  • Facilitate program classes as assigned.
  • Other Job Responsibilities:
  • Participate in Ministry and prayer activities, as appropriate.

  • Qualifications:Education, Skills & Experience: Requires a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in social services-related field (psychology, sociology, theology, religion, etc.) with 2 years of related work experience or an equivalent combination or education and experience. Bilingual (Spanish/English) required. A good understanding of intake procedures for facility programs is required. Valid Texas Driver's License with acceptable driving record and current liability insurance. Good reading, writing, time management and ability to multitask. Ability to meet program schedules, goals and objectives. Good organization and follow-up skills. Service-oriented attitude and tenacity to meet commitments. Good judgment in dealing with confidential client information and setting priorities. Capable of handling multiple tasks, coordinating detailed work and issues that need immediate attention. Ability to communicate and work cooperatively with employees, managers, directors, clients, volunteers and outside organizations that interact with Star of Hope. Be able to work respectfully, professionally and in a Christ-like manner with everyone, able to maintain required client/staff boundaries and possess a willingness to serve the Lord in a ministry that deals with homeless men, women and children. Equipment Used: General Office Supplies (Calculator, Telephone, Stapler, etc.), Computer Equipment (Monitor, Keyboard, etc.), Copier/Fax/Printer, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. 15- passenger van. Work Environment: Normal business hours, office environment, occasional weekend or evening events. Frequent visits with clients at program sites is required. Work schedule may be subject to change to meet the business needs of the mission. Professional dress. Jeans with no holes/fraying may only be worn on Fridays and only as long as a Star of Hope shirt (T-shirt, polo-style or sweatshirt) is worn. Exposure to infectious diseases, poor hygiene, drug usage, verbal and physical abuse and other emergency situations relative to the homeless population is normal.Relations with Others: Constant contact with immediate peers and manager. Constant face to face discussions with individuals, electronic mail, written letters and memos. Frequent contact with peers in other departments and vendors. Frequent telephone conversation. Occasional contact with managers, clients, and volunteers.Physical Requirements: Light work with lifting up to 10 pounds. Constant sitting, use of fingers, talking, hearing and repetitive motions. Frequent standing, walking, and feeling. Occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, lifting, handling and driving. Constant contact vision at 20 inches or less, and constant color vision and depth perception.
