The McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia seeks applicants for the position of Seasonal Application Reader for the 2024 evaluation cycle of the B.S. in Commerce program. Working with McIntire's Office of Undergraduate Admission, the application reader will read and evaluate internal transfer applications for the Commerce major and make recommendations for admission to the program.
The position is responsible for the holistic assessment of applicants' materials including academic accomplishments, extra-curricular experiences, and essay responses. As part of the undergraduate admission committee, the reader will make individual recommendations on applications and participate in a committee-wide review of certain applications when applicable. Reporting to the Director of Undergraduate Admissions & Recruiting, the reader will attend relevant training sessions and weekly discussions with the Director throughout the admission review cycle.
This is a wage position which is not eligible for leave or other benefits and is limited to 1500 hours of work in a year. For more information, refer to the Wage Employment link:?
Required knowledge, skills and experiences:
* Bachelor's degree and at least three years of experience in admissions or related field? or ?a total of eight years of experience in lieu of degree.
* Experience in undergraduate admission or instruction
* Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
* Ability to work independently and as part of a high-performing team with excellent initiative and judgement
* Excellent organizational skills and the ability to meet regular deadlines
Preferred knowledge, skills and experiences:
* Familiarity with the McIntire School and Bachelor of Commerce program
* Willingness and ability to learn new CRM systems
Position Compensation Range: $23.00 - $27.00 Hourly
