Details Client NameThe Center for Cancer & Blood Disorders Job TypePermanent OfferingLocums ProfessionPhysician Assistant SpecialtyHematology Oncology Job ID28951235 Job TitleMD - Advanced Practice Provider - NP or PA - Bethesda Shift Details ShiftDay - 8x5 - 09AM Scheduled Hours40 Job Order Details Start Date10/16/2024 Job Description Job Title: Advanced Practice Clinician Job Specialty: Advanced Practice Job Duration: N/A Shift: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Guaranteed Hours: N/A Experience: Minimum 5 years as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) or Physician Assistant (PA), specifically in Oncology License: Valid APRN or PA license in the appropriate state Certifications: Prescriptive privileges or eligible to apply, Current certification from ANCC or ONS (AOCN-P), Current BLS Must-Have: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) Job Description: - Assess the physical and psychosocial status of patients through interviews, health history, physical examinations, and diagnostic studies. - Write prescriptions for medications, blood products, routine diagnostic and follow-up studies, therapeutic measures, and post-discharge care based on written practice protocols. - Determine patient eligibility for entry into clinical trials based on findings. - Interpret and evaluate findings of studies/tests. - Relay appropriate information regarding patient care to the collaborating physician. - Administer therapeutic measures and obtain specimens as prescribed. - Dictate follow-up letters to referring physicians, summarizing treatment, response, and plan. - Document patient history, admissions, progress notes, and discharge notes in a timely manner. - Assist in managing family dynamics and coping mechanisms during acute and chronic phases of patient care. - Conduct or participate in daily multidisciplinary rounds for assigned patients to ensure they receive appropriate and quality care. - Provide on-call coverage and perform hospital rounds as needed. - Triage patients to determine the urgency of physician evaluation. - Document and report care accurately and timely using appropriate forms and records. - Demonstrate a willingness to learn and remain flexible in the changing healthcare environment. - Assist staff in times of crisis or emergencies. - Market and promote cancer treatment efficiently when meeting with the public outside the institution. - Determine work priorities, assign tasks, and ensure proper completion of work assignments. - Comply with all federal and state laws and regulations pertaining to patient privacy, patients' rights, personnel law, safety, labor, and employment law. - Adhere to company and department policies and procedures, including IT and Disaster Recovery Plan. - Maintain work area and records in a neat and orderly manner. - Ensure the confidentiality of patient and employee information as required by HIPAA regulations. - Assist in training new employees with related job duties. - Work as needed at any company location to help meet business needs. - Expected to work additional hours when given sufficient notice. - Maintain company equipment in a safe and working manner.
