Responsibilities & Qualifications of a MDS Coordinator:

  • Responsible for developing, implementing, and coordinating the Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI) process in a long-term care and Short-Term Rehabilitation / Skilled Nursing Center
  • Ensuring the center stays in compliance with current professional practice standards, physician's orders, company policies and procedures, and local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Conducts education on the RAI process for employees involved in the MDS process.
  • The coordinator will assist with the PDPM process and meetings as well as completing assessments, CAA's, care plans and assisting to ensure correct coding for the QMs as well as ensuring timeliness, accuracy, and transmission of the department MDS's.
  • Valid Florida RN (Registered Nurse) License
  • Current CPR
  • MDS Experience Preferred
  • Requires experience in clinical reimbursement as it relates to MDS completion, accuracy and transmission.
  • Knowledge of the MDS, RAI process and an understanding of Medicare regulations with regards to PDPM and OBRA
  • Responsible for the overall PDPM process and meetings as well as completing assessments, CAA's, care plans and assisting to ensure correct coding for the QMs as well as ensuring timeliness, accuracy and transmission of the department MDS's.

Experience

  • Must have, as a minimum, two (2) years of experience as an MDS Coordinator in a skilled nursing facility.
