QualificationsPhysically and mentally competent to perform manual labor tasksKnowledge and experience to do engine tune-ups, complete engine overhauls, general mechanics, and other related dutiesKnowledge of bus diesel engines such as 8.2, 7.3, Cummins engine, and 3116 Cat engineA combination of education and experience in skilled mechanics and repair of equipmentValid Mississippi Commercial Driver's license with air brakesMust be insurable by district insurance carrierApplicant must submit to and pass drug screening test as outlined by district policy.Reports ToSupervisor of Vehicle MaintenanceSupervisesN/AJob GoalTo keep equipment operating so that there is no interruption in the daily schedule of student transportation.Essential FunctionsPerforms regular maintenance jobs involving a variety of skilled duties including using a computer laptop, Pro Link and A.C. Compression Service.Does engine repairs such as tune-ups, overhauls, and general maintenance.Performs major and minor motor repair and replacement work on trucks and other equipment.Works on air brake systems.Replaces valves and seats grinding.Brazes and welds metals as needed.Installs rings and bearings and effects proper adjustments.Overhauls and repairs carburetors and clutches.Tunes motors using standard testing equipment, cleans and replaces spark plugs, and installs radiator hoses.Repairs transmissions, differentials, front and rear axle assemblies.Takes down, repairs, and reassembles air compressors, pumps, and related equipment.Performs other related duties as requested or assigned.EvaluationPerformance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of personnel.Salary InformationClassification:MechanicScale:ClassifiedGrade:DDays Employed:241 per school yearRange:$10.70-$17.90Overtime:Non-exemptCodes
