Support Staff - Position - Facilities Job Number 860####### Start Date Open Date 10/02/2024 Closing Date Performs routine to general electrical installation, maintenance and repair work.Essential Functions
  • Performs minor or routine to general maintenance, installation and repair of electrical systems and power distribution systems.
  • Reads work orders, work directions, and blueprints and schematic drawings to install and repair interior and exterior lighting systems and electrical fixtures, including receptacles, switches, doorbells and buzzers, alarm systems, thermostats, circuit breakers and panels, irrigation systems, time clocks, motors, generator, transformers and computer terminals.
  • Maintains and repairs communication systems, electrical heating and air conditioning systems and appliances.
  • Uses meters, test instruments and circuit diagrams to locate malfunctions in electrical systems and equipment, repairs or replaces parts.
  • Estimates labor and materials needed to complete assigned work, requisitions supplies and materials.
  • Maintains records of time and materials used to complete work.
  • Performs and promotes all activities in compliance with equal employment and nondiscrimination policies; follows federal laws, state laws, school boards policies and the professional standards.

  • High School graduate or GED.
  • One year of experience in electrical maintenance, installation or repair, or building construction electrical work.
  • Maryland Class C Noncommercial driver's license or an equivalent out-of-state driver's license.
  • Knowledge of the methods, techniques, tools and equipment used in the maintenance, installation and repair of electrical lighting and distribution systems and other standard equipment.
  • Knowledge of National Electric Code and State and local building codes.
  • Knowledge of current national electrical codes and standards.
  • Ability to operate hand and power tools used in electrical work.
  • Ability to layout routine electrical systems and to read and interpret sketches and drawings.
  • Ability to follow instructions.
  • Ability to interact with others effectively.
  • Ability to complete routine forms and maintain records.
