Description

Job Summary: Performs day-to-day maintenance and servicing of Parratt-Wolff's diversified fleet of drill rigs, support vehicles, and equipment for ensuring cost-efficient operations and compliance with all federal and state laws, regulations, and Parratt-Wolff policies. Work duties will be performed at a Parratt Wolff property, and/or service calls at or near project sites

Requirements

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: (Additional duties may be assigned)

* Inspect, diagnose, and repair all types of vehicles and equipment in the fleet, including diesel and gasoline engines, pumps, transmissions, brakes, electrical systems, hydraulics, and other components.

* Perform preventative maintenance on all vehicles and equipment to ensure they are in safe operating condition (includes state inspections, oil changes, hydraulic fluid changes, lubrication, etc..).

* Properly test vehicles and equipment following service, and / or repairs to ensure proper and safe completion of work prior to putting back into service.

* Use diagnostic tools, equipment, technical manuals, and schematics to troubleshoot and identify mechanical problems. Safely operate equipment, standard and specialty tools, welders, etc.. during the maintenance or repair of the equipment.

* Ensure all vehicles and heavy equipment are serviced and repaired in accordance with established safety standards, manufacturers specifications, and regulatory requirements (State, local, DOT, OSHA, etc..).

* Maintain accurate records of all repairs and maintenance performed on vehicles and equipment to ensure proper data entry in computer maintenance programs.

* Work collaboratively with other mechanics, drillers, shop staff, and supervisors to identify issues and implement solutions which include cost & time conscious decision making.

* Performs safety and maintenance checks as needed and ensures that all vehicles and equipment are cleaned and maintained to a high standard.

* Performs other duties that arise.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

The Mechanic does not have any supervisory responsibilities.

Minimum Qualification Standards:

* High school diploma or GED required.

* One year vocational or technical training in mechanical repair required.

* Clean, insurable class C driver's license required (CDL a plus).

* Ability to pass a DOT medical clearance physical (DOT medical card).

Special Requirements:

* Willingness to work weekends and overtime on a regular basis.

* Willingness to travel on a required basis (~5-10% of the time).

* Field service calls that may require overnight stay.

* Assisting other branch locations with backlog of service / repairs.

* Assisting with transportation of equipment in need of repair.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

* Must be able to work independently, without supervision, while performing certain tasks in a safe and timely manner.

* Knowledge of automotive repair and maintenance.

* Welding and fabrication experience is a plus.

* Ability to read, understand, and follow, safety procedures.

* Basic computer data entry, spreadsheets, and writing routine reports and correspondence.

* Ability to diagnose mechanical problems and perform repairs.

* Ability to use appropriate power and hand-held tools, diagnostic equipment to repair, replace, and test equipment.

* Knowledge of hydraulic and electrical systems.

* Ensure all maintenance and repair work is performed accurately and efficiently to prevent injury to staff and damage to equipment.

* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

* Must have knowledge of basic math and reading skills.

* Ability to interpret a variety of operating and maintenance instructions including reading and interpreting safety regulations and schematics or drawings.

Equipment, Machines and Software Used:

This position requires the regular use of vehicle maintenance software.

Mental Requirements:

Close mental and visual attention required for controlling machines or processes at a rapid pace requiring close coordination and fine adjustment.

Physical Requirements:

This position requires frequent standing, bending, squatting, twisting, and turning, as well as occasional kneeling, climbing, crawling, typing, and reaching above the shoulder. The individual must physically be able to perform tasks associated with equipment repairs / maintenance and must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. In addition, individuals must frequently drive automatic and standard transmission vehicles.

Physical Exertion:

Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to move objects.

Environmental Conditions:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that may be encountered while performing the essential functions of this position.

The employee is subject to inside and/or outside environmental conditions and is exposed to dust, dirt, heat, fumes, and/or cold. The employee is subject to extreme cold or extreme heat defined as temperatures below 32 degrees for periods of more than one hour or temperatures above 100 degrees for periods of more than one hour. The employee is subject to sufficient noise that he or she is required to utilize hearing protection. The employee is frequently subject to hazards, atmospheric conditions, oils and other cutting fluids OR conditions where he or she is required to wear a respirator. In addition, the employee is subject to work with and around heavy machinery and at contaminated sites.
