Job Description:

A successful Mechanic will be responsible for service, repair, troubleshoot, and diagnose all heavy equipment, rolling stock, dump trucks, flatbeds, trailers, small engines, hydraulic, gas and diesel machinery and electrical systems. Role Overview: A successful Mechanic will be responsible for service, repair, troubleshoot, and diagnose all heavy equipment, rolling stock, dump trucks, flatbeds, trailers, small engines, hydraulic, gas and diesel machinery and electrical systems. Responsibilities: Conduct preventative maintenance and inspections on both company vehicles and construction equipment including both gas and diesel machinery. Examine vehicles and equipment to diagnose and troubleshoot vehicle and equipment failure Examine vehicles and equipment and recommend proactive maintenance or service in order to avoid vehicle and equipment failure Service and repair heavy equipment and vehicles Load, unload and drive heavy equipment to work-site as well as in the yard Operate forklift to load/unload truck Operate and test equipment as needed Welding and fabrication Complete appropriate and required paperwork to ensure documentation of repair and maintenance Other duties as assigned Physical Requirements: Climb up and down ladders, machinery, and other objects. Push, pull, reach, and carry objects such as tools, materials, and equipment weighing up to 80lbs. Load and unload tools and equipment on truck Coordinate movement of eyes, hands, fingers, and feet. 50% of the work is performed in a shop environment and 50% outside in typical weather extremes. Work surfaces include concrete, asphalt, gravel, and dirt. Exposure to noisy machinery and traffic - ear protection is available. Frequent exposure to dust and pollen Qualifications: 1-2 years of diesel/gas mechanic experience or combination of experience and certified mechanic program education is required Possess a valid Class A Commercial driver's license with a good driving record. Must have own standard mechanic tools. Ability to read and comprehend technical repair documents Follow instructions, responds to management direction; takes responsibility for own actions Consistently at work and on time Meets productivity standards; Completes work in a timely manner; Strives to increase productivity. Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness; Looks for ways to improve and promote quality. Follow all safety guidelines. Is alert and aware of surroundings and working hazards. Wears hardhat, safety vest, safety glasses, gloves, approved safety footwear, and seatbelt.
