The Mechanicis accountable to ensure the safe and productive operation of the plant and must possess aptitude for multiple disciplines and be proficient in the operation of equipment associated with all functional areas within the plant.

The successful incumbent will have the following Key Accountabilities: Safety
- Comply with applicable MSHA regulations as outlined in the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) and procedures applying to the worker or person that are part of a safety and health management system for the mine.
- If the worker has information that other persons need to know to fulfil their obligations or duties under the CFR, or to protect themselves from the risk of injury or illness, to give the information to the other persons
- Work or carry out the worker's activities in a way that does not expose the worker or someone else to an unacceptable level of risk
- Ensure, to the extent of the responsibilities and duties allocated to the worker or person, that the work and activities under the worker's control, supervision, or leadership is conducted in a way that does not expose the worker or person or someone else to an unacceptable level of risk
- Comply with instructions given for safety and health of persons by the mine operator or a supervisor at the operation
- Work at the operation only if the worker is in a fit condition to carry out the work without affecting the safety and health of others
Requirements:
- A General Understanding of the Plant Equipment listed on the next page.
- Perform preventative maintenance checks and close out work orders.
- Kit and Prepare parts ahead of time for larger planned projects and jobs.
- Occasional weekend work will be required.
- Once trained, be part of the callout schedule.
- The willingness to train/learn the Wet Plant and its Process is a plus.
- Other duties as assigned by plant management and supervision.
- General knowledge of cutting and welding is a plus.
General Mechanic Requirements (Covia Dividing Creek)The successful bidder must be able to read and understand assignments, work orders, tools, equipment and plant policies. They must also have a general understanding of the following plant departments and processes.Dredge/Booster Pumps/PipelinesPipeline (metal/plastic), slurry pumps, cable (wound wire) splicing and replacement, lubrication, packing, seal water, hydraulics, anchor moves, communication components, bearings, sheaves, drive belts, other miscellaneous equipment at the Dredge.Wet PlantSlurry and Vertical Turbine Pumps, packing (seal water), pipeline (plastic), density separators, hydrocyclones, scrubber/agitator, flotation system, walkways and structural work, other miscellaneous equipment at the Wet Plant.Dryer and LoadoutVibrating feeders, bucket elevators, belt conveyors, screw conveyors, fluid bed dryer, fans, wet scrubber, pipeline (metal), pumps, loadout equipment, dust collection equipment, railcar mover and other miscellaneous equipment at the Dryer/Loadout.The successful incumbent will have the following Minimum Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a maintenance role (at least four years)
- Previous exposure to preventative maintenance strategies
- Must be able to read manuals, blueprints, and electrical diagrams
- Demonstrated experience contributing within a team of professionals to deliver against set targets
- Demonstrated commitment to safety with previous experience in identifying and managing risks
Required Skills:Essential
- Literacy in English, both written and spoken
- High School diploma or GED
- Welding and metal fabrication
- Basic electrical repairs & troubleshooting
Desirable Training in:
- Industrial electricity & troubleshooting electrical control circuits
- Replacing and troubleshooting electrical motors
- Industrial fluid power and pumping systems
- Mechanical drives & power transmission
- Dredge experience
