Job Duties:
To assist the Head Mechanic in keeping the District's cars and buses in such a state of operating excellence that they present no problems or interruptions to the educational program.
Essential Functions: Performance Responsibilities:
* Follow established system of routine automotive maintenance and preventive care.
* Follow systems in place to maintain a current inventory of supplies and equipment and follow procedures for the receipt and issuance of parts and supplies and the keeping of records and inventories.
* At the direction of the Supervisor, diagnose and repair district automotive equipment.
* Maintain a clean and efficient district fleet by ensuring all required daily/annual maintenance is performed to include preventive procedures such as checking vehicle fluid levels, documenting maintenance records, fueling and preparing vehicles for trips/staff use.
* Maintain high standards of safety and good housekeeping methods in all work-connected areas.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
* Literacy in the English language; ability to read and comprehend mechanical manuals.
* Demonstrated success in performing a variety of tasks requiring an understanding of and proficiency at automotive mechanical repair.
* Must be able to obtain Commercial Driver License with appropriate endorsements.
* Possession of, or ability to obtain, Colorado Department of Education annual inspection certification.
* Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
Essential Functions: Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
This position is responsible for the maintenance of a fleet of district vehicles including small vehicles to large school buses. Use of a variety of automotive servicing equipment as well as computers and copying machines. Physical conditions may include:
Climbing Kneeling Exposure to electrical shock
Stooping Heavy lifting (up to 100 lbs.) Hearing
Exposure to weather Near acuity Far acuity
