Job Description:
Position SummaryUnder direct supervision, this is an entry level position that is responsible for safely and compliantly servicing, maintaining, and repairing multiple gas-fired engines and natural gas compressors associated with Midstream operations. Basic maintenance tasksand entry level troubleshooting will be required to provide assistance with preventative repairs, diagnostic testing, servicing, and overhauling field equipment to ensure maximum runtime availability. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Maintain a safe working environment and follow all of the Safety, Health, and Environmental policies, procedures, and requirements, ensuring personal safety, safety of others, and safety of the surrounding area.
  • With supervision, perform skilled mechanical duties involving operations to accomplish routine and preventive maintenance. Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair minor and assist with major natural gas engines, compressors, generators, and other power driven equipment.
  • Inspect gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure equipment was operating safely and properly.
  • Obtain and monitor monthly engine and compressor oil sample results. Assist with performing appropriate remedial action.
  • Maintain inventory control by managing the supply, storage, and accessibility of parts and tools, in order to insure an adequate supply to perform work for assigned units.
  • Assist with performing start up procedures at new compressor stations.
  • Perform scheduled preventative and corrective field mechanical service on gas compression units.
  • Responsible for submitting accurate maintenance reports, work orders, expense reports, timesheets, and other necessary paperwork on a daily basis.
  • Responsible for reporting and following proper procedures for all leaks and spills.
  • Conduct work in a professional manner at all times and provide excellent customer service to upstream business unit.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform responsibilities during call-outs and off hours for high priority work and emergencies that require timely response and actions, as needed.
  • Assist other Midstream departments with maintenance activities.
  • Responsible for on-call rotation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Required Education, Experience, Licensure
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Three (3) years of experience as an Industrial Mechanic.
  • One (1) year of experience with large and small compressors and engines such as natural gas-fired engines and reciprocating compressors.
  • Possess valid driver's license and clean driving record (MVR) that meet Company's Insurance qualifications to operate Company vehicle.
Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure
  • Vocational or Technical Education and/or Certification in related field.
  • One (1) year of experience with Vapor Recovery Units (VRU), glycol, and/or desiccant dehydration units.
  • Basic Ariel compressor training.
  • Basic natural gas-fired engine training
Required Core Competencies - Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Able to recognize and apply safety processes and procedures.
  • Working knowledge of pneumatic and electric starters, fuel systems, cooling systems, lubrication systems, ignition systems, and other compression related anatomy.
  • Basic electrical, mechanical, and computer knowledge.
  • Understand the basic operations of production, such as, separators, dehydration units, etc.
  • Basic knowledge of Waukesha VHP's, Ariel, and Caterpillar.
  • Able to develop basic fundamental knowledge and concepts of rotary screw and reciprocating compression, electric motor driven compression, gas engine driven compression, shutdown panel operation, and related monitoring devices.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including MS Outlook, Excel, Word, etc. and use/operation of standard office equipment.
  • Ability to work in a team environment focusing on teamwork and unity.
  • Ability to receive and follow instructions to develop basic troubleshooting skills.
  • Good knowledge of hazards and safety details on site.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to be detail oriented, self-starter, and work independently with supervision while maintaining goals and tasks.
  • Ability to safely operate vehicles, equipment, and tools.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Functions as an individual contributor with no supervisory responsibilities.

  • Extreme cold and heat: temperatures typically below 32o F or above 100o F for periods of more than one hour. Consideration should be given to the effect of other environmental conditions as wind, rain, snow, and humidity.
  • Noise: there is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above ambient noise level.
  • Vibration: exposure to oscillating movements of the extremities or whole body.
  • Hazards: includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to chemicals.
  • Working near or with heavy tools and moving machinery.
  • Exposure to high-pressure.
Physical Demands
  • The employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Frequently handle, install, position, move materials and manipulate things.
  • The employee will frequently lift, push, carry and/or move up to 75 pounds.
  • Be able to bend, stoop, crouch, etc. frequently.
  • Frequent amount of traversing through challenging terrain to evaluate project sites, conditions, manually inspect slopes or perform work.
Travel Requirements
  • Minimal travel may be required to other locations.
  • Daily travel to Company's field operations.
