A Mechanical Assembler at Valmet, located in our Lenox, MA location will primarily be responsible for providing you would be responsible for the assembly and dis-assembly of various machines used in the Pulp & Paper industry. This position plays a critical role in meeting the production needs that support the sales and operations teams to deliver quality products that will meet our customer needs. Under the direction and guidance of the Production Supervisor of the Fiber Workshop; you will have the opportunity to work with an amazing team of tradespeople. RESPONSIBILITIES OF A MECHANICAL ASSEMBLER: To excel in the role, you should be able to communicate efficiently colleagues and have an interest in manufacturing. You balance a desire to support and work closely with our Quality and Health, Safety, & Environmental (HSE) teams along with your passion for working through changes and challenges.
- Perform a variety of mechanical assemblies and testing on new and rebuilt equipment.
- Fill out and complete all check sheets.
- Perform layout, drilling, tapping, fitting and alignments, as required for component hardware.
- Install switches, gauges, control buttons, pilot lights, meters, and other purchased sub-assemblies in proper alignment and location.
- Install and connect piping.
- Clean, touch up and perform necessary work to prepare for shipment.
- Work from work orders, specifications, prepared programs, material lists, drawings and general instructions to meet quality and quantity standards.
- Select component for repair and/or replacement in accordance with specifications.
- Maintain workplace in a neat and orderly condition and record production and time data.
- Perform other related duties, as assigned in accordance with workload priorities.
- Follow all prescribed safety rules and regulations.
- Obtain both a fork-truck and hoisting license. Or Valmet's own certification, per in house training.
- Comfortable in a fast-paced work environment.
- Must be a team player and have excellent communication skills.
- Work complexity and business impact: Works independently to complete given assignments.
- Interpret drawings, blueprints, and work orders to determine fixture.
- Typical minimum relevant experience required: 2-5 years.
- Assisting with shipping logistics
- Adhere to Valmet Inc. Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) goals and directives.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE YOU MUST BE: We're looking for individuals who are self-motivated and enjoy learning new things. A high school diploma or trade school degree; one to three (1-3) years' experience in similar position in an industrial facility; or equivalent experience is required for this role. Great attention to detail with a goal-driven attitude. Ability to accept responsibility and account for his/her actions. Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly. Ability to operate overhead cranes and a fork truck preferred. Knowledge of, detail and assembly blueprints. You must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
