Background:Thar Energy, LLC is part of the broader Thar organization founded in 1990. Thar organization has been a global leader in the use of green, all natural, supercritical fluid processing for the energy, pharmaceutical, food, and chemical industries.Thar Energy has an immediate opening for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join its team, focused on equipment with moving parts (pumps, turbines, etc.) and compact heat exchangers.Job responsibilities include:
- Design, analyze and test mechanical systems such as pumps, heat exchangers, pressure vessels, etc.
- Ensure that the mechanical elements (bearings, seals etc.) are correctly defined and implemented in the design
- Prepare 3D models and 2D shop drawings for the equipment assembly and components, and ensure that these drawings are correct and able to be manufactured with the available fabrication technologies
- Perform GD&T and tolerance stack-ups to ensure all the equipment parts can be assembled and run correctly
- Perform finite element analysis
- Work with vendors and project partners
- Use verbal and written communication skills to work both independently and in team environments
Requirements include:
- Bachelor's degree with 5 years or master's degree with 3 years of experience in mechanical engineering or equivalent engineering discipline
- 2D and 3D solid modeling experience such as SolidWorks or equivalent
- Experience with finite element analysis (FEA)
- Experience with fabrication techniques and design for manufacturability
- Experience developing and generating project and component documentation including equipment, drawings, process flow diagrams, bills of materials, project schedules and component and system manuals
- Good communication skills, both written and oral
Preferred characteristics include:
- Greater than 5 years of experience
- Experience with ANSYS Workbench
- Experience with computational fluid dynamics (CFD)
- Experience with pressure vessel codes
- Experience in new product development and project management
- Experience with GD&T and high precision measuring tools (such as calipers and micrometers)
- Self-starter who enjoys working in a small company environment with a wide degree of creativity and opportunity for growth working and developing new technologies.
