As a Mechanical Design Engineer, You Will:
  • Design solutions following specified requirements.
  • Integrate solutions with existing machine designs when applicable.
  • Research new applications, materials, and machine designs.
  • Create 3D models of parts and assemblies using Autodesk Inventor and Vault.
  • Generate production drawings and .dxf files using Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD.
  • Preferably can perform FEA using ANSYS software.
  • Develop test plans and prepare test reports.
  • Work independently or collaboratively on projects as needed.
  • Ensure that designs adhere to safety and regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing to address fabrication issues.
  • Interface with external vendors for component sourcing and validation.
  • Complete project tasks within defined timelines.
What You Will Bring to Derrick:
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or technology
  • Minimum 2-5 years of professional work experience in engineering design
  • Advanced understanding of various manufacturing processes, such as sheet metal forming, welding, machining, casting, and injection molding.
  • Proficiency in both 2D and 3D CAD software is required.
  • Ability to conduct and interpret structural analysis of complex structures.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities with a creative mindset
  • Ability to work independently on projects, demonstrating effective time management and handling multiple concurrent projects efficiently.
  • Excellent communication skills with a focus on clarity and conciseness
  • Attention to detail and a hands-on approach.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • A passion for mechanical design and a solid mechanical aptitude.
  • Preferred experience with accelerometers, stress/strain gauges, and data acquisition systems
  • Experience in FEA analysis is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Understanding GD&T for manufactured components and assemblies is beneficial but not required.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes, assembly techniques, machining, and welded fabrications is a bonus.
  • Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems is preferred.
