Job Description:
POSITION DESCRIPTION:This position will focus on providing engineering support to a wide variety of onsite commercial and industrial infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will have experience in engineering and design for construction. Supervising the delivery of projects by managing teams of in house construction employees as well as outside contractors, with focus on timely delivery of on-budget projects is a major responsibility of this role. Example project types include installation of bulk material handling equipment, replacement of industrial machinery, and new capital improvement construction projects to support the recycling of lead acid batteries. Candidates will be responsible for managing and/or providing technical assistance to continually advance projects within scope, budget and schedule.PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Manage projects of various size and complexity from schematic design through construction administration
  • Lead and perform the design of assigned engineering projects
  • Create and monitor scope, schedules and budget for projects assigned
  • Solicit proposals from vendors and consultants for budgetary purposes when developing projects
  • Develop Proposals for outside Engineering Services in support of projects assigned or in need of assistance
  • Schedules project work with external contractors, in house maintenance, and in-house union work force for the installation of machines, tools, and equipment to ensure continuous production operations
  • Work on multiple projects for multiple departments simultaneously
  • Lead multidisciplinary engineering teams across environmental, mechanical, electrical, civil, and occasionally structural disciplines using in house and contract labor.
  • Direct the fabricating or modifying of machines, tools, or equipment as a part of project work
  • Inspect operating facilities, machines, and equipment for conformance with engineering standards.
  • Produce engineering plans and specifications
  • Develop projects with departments and then oversee and manage the project design and construction while interfacing with the project manager.
III. PRE-HIRE REQUIREMENTS:
  • Mechanical, Civil, or Structural Engineering degree.
  • Candidates should be proficient in technical writing, possess solid communication skills, and be able to interact effectively with staff and clients, and have experience in the preparation and presentation of proposals.
  • Highly Proficient in AutoCAD with some exposure to AutoCAD 3D.
  • Direct heavy transportation or plant construction experience is preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects, people, schedule, and budget.
  • Great interpersonal skills necessary for interacting with clients, coworkers, and regulatory agencies.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
  • Proven design/management ability for engineering projects
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Self-motivated
  • Possess attention to detail
  • Ability to think critically with unique process requirements and chemistries, and environmental regulations
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Strong MS Office Computer skills
  • Excels in working in team environments
  • Exhibits strong leadership skills
